Would a Barbie doll fit in this canoe and be able to float in a tub or pool?

No, it would be just a little to small. One of the half size barbies would fit.

Are the paddles attached to the canoe or loose.

They are not attached. ...very nicely crafted canoe.

Is it flat on the bottom; will it stand-up on its own for display?

Hi, I received this canoe as a gift and it is flat on the bottom and does stand alone for display. I love it!!!

Can it go in water and does it flow?

I doubt you would want to try to float it. It's more of a 'decorative' piece of art. (I incorporated it in a large memorial floral arrangement for someone who was an avid canoeist ~ for which it was perfect.)
