Is this hard to play with because it doesn't open?

It does open. Even if u don't open its big and room to play.

Is there any way I can purchase just the items that come in the truck?

Yes & no, there is an Our Generation Sweet Shop Truck set that has many of the items that come with this truck, but not all of them. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLKCKH8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Why is this so expensive when a week ago it was 99.00?Price gouging the way I see it. How will the little kids feel when the parent's can't afford it?

Funny you should ask. This professional shopper knows exactly the cost of one happy baby girl Christmas morning. One Our Generation Ice cream Truck Purchased a month prior to Black Friday when the 99.00 trucks were sold out for $109.99 $116 with tax at Target . That pro shopper paid $40 to ship the truck $32 in fees and hours of grief trying to understand why you would call them a price gouger for earning $6. Yep that’s how we make happy baby girls Christmas morning! And that’s how you make sad grown up girls at 3am this morning..
