Worked Great
This brand was recommended by my orthopedic doctor to wear after foot surgery. The straps stayed secure while wearing for the eight weeks. It was a better price point buying from Amazon versus the doctors office.

Outstanding Product
The media could not be loaded. Way back in 2012, I had to have surgery on both my feet. I am a diabetic and had a necrotic great toe on my right foot and an ulcer that had remained open on my left foot since 2004.Because of the condition of my great toe, Dr. Patel had to perform an urgent surgery to keep me from dying from the advanced state of the infection in my toe. After the surgery, I was fitted with not one but two Ortho Healing Wedge shoes. It took a little getting used to, but soon I was able to get the whole balance thing worked out.The wedge causes the wearer to place pressure on the heel of the foot rather than putting so much downward pressure on the toes and ball of the foot.I was able to stop wearing the wedge on my right foot, but had to keep the wedge on my left. Now what? The wedge is taller than your average shoe. I was able to overcome this height difference by wearing a Herman Survivor work boot on my right foot.I have been wearing the wedge for years. In fact, this is the second time I ordered from this company. The cost of the wedge through Amazon is much less than my copay if I get it through medical supply or my doctor’s office. For me, a wedge lasts about 2 years. No, I have not healed yet. But, the big thing is that the ulcer has gotten smaller and has not gotten any worse. The pressure on the foot is minimized, which is what we were shooting for.My insurance will not pay for the graft that will someday heal me. In the meantime, I can maintain my foot using the Ortho Healing Wedge from Darco. If you have a foot ulcer, I highly recommend this. The service is better than promised and the price is excellent.

Good short-term healing shoe
Foot surgery with stitches. Wearing now everyday into my 3rd week. Very slick bottom if wet. Starting to come apart slowly at this point. Does what it’s meant to do if you get the right size. Cushions foot against bumping into things, and takes weight off front of foot. Generally quite stable. Short-term because it is starting to slowly break down.

It works!!
Fantastic product. Just what I needed to keep pressure off a painful area. Super fast shipping and secure packaging. Definitely recommend. My foot is a women’s size 9 and I bought a medium shoe. My big toe ends 3/8-1/2 inch from the edge of the shoe.

terrible
Really appreciate Pat Peresich Jr's review and the pics as this was my exact experience including the cracking and breaking away of peices after 6 weeks. I wrote the Co. and got an immediate response that this item was not available for refunds or replacements. If you don't have the money top waste, don't get this. It is not represented well by the picture which shows the support as much shorter and not under the pad of my foot below the toes. The slant is horrible, the product is poor quality, It does not protect the foot pad i was trying to protect - too short so weight was on it. It stressed my knees to the point of damage. Very unfortunate purchase. A waste of money i could not afford to throw away. Don't buy this!

Shoe works as described but didn't last long.
I am buying my third Ortho wedge shoe right now. The shoe works as described and was a great help in healing my foot ulcer, non diabetic, due to improper healing of malunioin of broken bone, proximal phalanx. The velcro closures wear out after 4-6- months and no long provide good closure. I am willing to buy again because price is not that high. So happy with shoe, not happy that velcro closure wears out rather quickly.

I Highly Recommend This Shoe For Broken or Sprain Toes
I broke my toe, 4th digit and sprain three other toes and managed to badly hurt my foot as well. I was referred to an Orthpaedic Surgeon. He instructed me on how to tape my broken toe to it's adjoining digits and gave me an orthopedic shoe. The sole of the shoe was a low wedge. The sole of the shoe he issued me was slippery, it's material, although hard, did not allow me to put any pressure on the toe at all. My toes hurt like heck even though the shoe was supposedly designed to alleviate pressure on the foot and toes. I could not walk in the shoe. I could not walk bare foot. I could only walk using crutches. The shoe he gave me is your standard cheaper orthopedic shoe. I had to use my crutches and hop on the uninjured foot because the shoe did not aid in taking any pressure off of my toes.Additionally, I was afraid to walk on wooden or slick floors because I would slide while wearing the shoe given to me by my Orthopaedic Surgeon. I even reinjured my toe trying to hobble up two stairs wearing the issued shoes. The stairs where wooden and the shoe's sole was made of some type of rubber that did not have much traction. I performed research to determine if I could get a better shoe on my own. I came across these shoes while searching on Google. I searched the manufacture of the shoe Darco on Amazon and found it was selling for cheaper or comparable to what I found on the manufacturer's site. I decided to order it from Amazon. I must admit that I was not in love with how the shoe looked on the manufactures site. The shoe looked just as bulky and unatrractive when I got them. I tried them on and stood up to test them and after being immobilized for nearly three weeks using crutches, I was able to walk using the shoe without crutches. The shoe is a must have if you have broken a bone in your toe or even sprain your toes. You need the extra weight of the shoe to keep your foot balanced and straight. The design allows you to put the pressure on your heels up to the arch of your foot, which allows for very little pressure on your toes. The shoe is freaking awesome! It allowed me to walk gently and slowly without having to use crutches immediately upon putting them on. I swear by these shoes for anyone with a broken or sprain toes. The look is growing on me too!
