I TRY to take care of it...emphasis on the try, only because I hang it up after I remember I flung it across the room three days earlier. So yes it's durable. Ok. The vest is fine. I just received it and had none of the quality control issues that are in several other comments, BUT...I wish I'd paid closer attention to the review by the guy who bought it as a costume....cuz that's what it is. I'll be keeping it for the occasional MJ impersonation, but I won't be wearing it while riding the bike.
