Disappointing product :(
I do have some years of experience with sewing machines. I owned a Singer model for years and donated it when I moved a couple of years ago since I barely used it and it was big and heavy. So I was looking for a new small one do do some repairs and adjust the length on my new jeans. This machine had good reviews so I decided to order one. I really regret getting it; not sure if the good reviews were “real” as you can see by my comments:The applicable cloth for sewing table states that hard fabric as jeans is easy to sew, but when reaching double layers the needle would not get through in the leg seam of the jeans; after a few tries found out that the needle which came originally was bended making it difficult to sew because it kept hitting the bottom metal instead of going inside the hole scratching the metal base. After replacing the needle to a straight one, it continued not sewing properly so I had to turn the hand wheel manually when reaching the leg seam. Also, another problem happened: the thread began to break after a few seconds of sewing, so I had to stop and pass the thread again. Tried to adjust the the tension dial and do the troubleshooting they suggest, but the thread continued to snap. The quality of the threads it came with the machine is not worst or better than others you can by in stores, so that was not the cause of the thread snapping all the time.Since you can’t adjust the pressure of the presser foot or raise the feed dogs it’s very difficult to sew in a straight line. The bottom line is that this is not a good or easy to use machine; it took me about 2 hours to sew a pants hem when should be no more than 15 minutes. They say it’s a sewing machine for beginners…If I got absolutely frustrated, and I have experience imagine how frustrating would be to learn to sew in this! The positive points are that it’s looks nice and is very light.I did return it :(
