**Q: Is the thermometer supposed to be at zero each time before placing it into the chicken or meat?**
A: No.  It doesn't matter where it is.  It would automatically return to whatever the ambient temperature was and then change to the the temperature of whatever you're cooking when inserted.  For example; I'm holding the AMMZO thermometer in my hand right now and it tells me the room temperature is 74.3 degrees.  When I pinch the tip between my fingers it instantly (maybe 2 seconds)  changes to 93.6 degrees, my skin temperature.

**Q: I keep getting an Error when trying to calibrate it. I’ve taken the battery out and out it back in. Has anyone had this issue, if so what did you do?**
A: The same has happened to me…..so I gave up trying.
I just assume this thermometer is not very good quality.
