I used A an B terminals and it works great. Its a very economical solution
The unit is exactly as discribed. My application required the ability to switch from A or B two channel speakers. It also gives the option to run A and B. Depending which set of terminals you use will determine the impedance back to the tuner. My tuner requires 8 ohm or greater. I used A an B terminals and it works great. Its a very economical solution. I"ll miss Radio Shacks basic solutions like this. One negative on the unit was also noted by another review. The terminals don't grasp smaller gage wires well. On some of the wires I overcame the problem by stripping twice the length I needed, bent the wire back on itself and twisted it together. It then had enough to be gripped securely.

Works great, zero power requirements too.
I wish the connectors could handle larger "monster cable" wires, but #14AWG is the largest the connectors are designed to handle. Fortunately I made some easy wire changes, and it works fine. I drive the living room speakers directly from the stereo on A-channels, but this device selects all the rest of the speakers to be driven by B-channels - like my garage or basement. It was easy to configure. The impedence table is kinda hard to understand, but otherwise - its a nice switching device and it doesn't require a power cord or batteries either.

OK for my needs-Better than expected
This little box used to cost over 40 bucks. UNTIL they saw how it works or rather doesn't work. It works fine if you're only using one switch but once you press another switch the problem emerges. One speaker goes out on each switch. I wanted it for use with a 2 pair setup but when I used the other switch I could only hear one speaker from each switch. I suppose it's due to the impedance of the speakers used. The instruction sheet claims that the speakers divide in power when plugged into particular switches and they need to be plugged into the proper numbered switch and-(yawn) COME ON! This thing is now under 20 bucks and that's really all it's worth. Look elsewhere if you want a proper user-friendly speaker switch.UPDATE: I actually re-read the instruction sheet and rewired the configuration of my speakers following their exact recommendations and now I'm the DODO. The RadioShack 4-way Speaker Selector Switch works flawlessly. Don't do what I did. DON'T use SPK-A and SPK-B because they won't work simultaneously. DO use SPK-A and SPK-D if you want 2-pairs of speakers running simultaneously. Not for the lazy audiophile.

Works great, and very easy to connect
I have been enjoying my music in my various rooms without disturbing others (or blasting them out) in the room with my audio equipment. Works great, and very easy to connect.

Slowly stopped being functional
Packaging appeared to be new old stock when I received it. I thought - well, if it works, who cares if it's been sitting around on a shelf for 15 years? Worked OK for about 6 months until the buttons started sticking and I'd have to select a button 5-6 times before it'd actually take. Then about 8 months into my ownership, one set of speakers stopped working. No big deal, I'll just move the speakers to a different port....and they worked just fine again. Then that port stopped working too! So now only port B works on this speaker selector and of course I am past the expiration for returns. I've ordered a different speaker selector and will now trash this one I guess.

works fine but was sent a used one.
The item was listed as new but I was sent one that was used. The previous owner labeled the buttons with a sharpie and the exterior was in poor condition. That's the reason for the 2 star review. The unit worked fine and I was using it in a garage so I did not care about the looks and decided not to return it. The unit accepts 4 sets of speakers (A, B, C, D) but you can only get sound out of 2 of the sets at a time. A and B is separate from C and D so if you want to use 2 sets at once you have to use A and C or B and D. If you use A and B or C and D at the same time the sound cuts out.

Cuts frequency response.
It works fine except that it seems to cut the frequency response especially on the no. 2 speakers. Don't know how or why.

Flexibility for my Stereo!
This item allowed me to toggle between multiple sets of speakers attached to the same stereo receiver. In my case, I am able to play music on the patio, for example, while have the speakers in my den "off." The unit can accommodate up to 4 sets of speakers. It is easy to install and the quality is excellent!
