The bar contains Saphonified Oils (from palm and coconut), Water, Glycerin (from vegetable oil), Pyrithione Zinc, Titanium Dioxide (a natural mineral), Oatmeal, Olive Oil, Vitamin E, Table Salt, Salt of Pentetic Acid.

This is the same formulation as our larger 4 oz bar Zinc Therapy Bar. On that bar we list "Saphonified Oils (from palm and coconut)" as Sodium palmate, Sodium cocoate, and Sodium palm kernelate.  These are the chemical names for saphonified palm and coconut oil.  At some point in the future we will likely change the ingredients panel on this bar so that it is in sync with the 4 oz bar.

It is fragrance free...has a metallic smell from the zinc...but helps my face so I don't mind.

Does anyone use cream with Zinc Pyrithione in it?

We have thousands of customers that use the DermaHarmony cream with and without also using the zinc soap.  Both work to stop seborrheic dermatitis. Responding to the DermaZinc plug in this Q&A, our cream is more natural.  Let's look at 4 of the ingredients used by DermaZinc.

Dimethicone (also called polymethylsiloxane) is a silicon-based polymer.  DermaHarmony is against using silicon in cosmetics. DMDM hydantoin is an antimicrobial formaldehyde releaser preservative. People exposed to such formaldehyde-releasing ingredients may develop a formaldehyde allergy or an allergy to the ingredient itself and its decomposition products.  DermaHarmony is against formaldehyde type substances in cosmetics. Methylparaben is in the paraben family of preservatives used by the food, pharmaceutical, and personal care product industries. Parabens mimic estrogen and can act as potential hormone (endocrine) system disruptors.  DermaHarmony is against endocrine disruptors in all products. PEG-75: PEGs are commonly used as cosmetic cream bases. They are part of "the dirty dozen".  DermaHarmony is against microplastics like PEG.  They destroy our environment.

Our cream works just a well without all the bad stuff.

Does this expire/ go bad?

The short answer is yes - 3 years from the manufacture date.  Bars sold on Amazon are marked with a lot number and exp date on the white sticker.  It is only because we quality test our soap for 3 years from the data of manufacture (e.g. we monitor the bars over time).  Testing costs money so we don't test beyond 3 years.  It's why most manufacturers of soap use a 3 year exp date.  It's an industry standard.

When soap is stored in a cool dry place it will last for many years (e.g. 20-30 years easily).  The pyrithione zinc does not degrade or become unstable over time in the soap base.  That said, we're sticking to the 3 years from mfg date because that's our stated policy.
