NASTILY BRUTAL!!!
I basically second what alot of the other 5-star ratings say. The brutal yet melodic fusions of guitar riffs and eerie keyboards speaks for itself. Alexi Laiho sure knows how to emphasize the brutality with his menacing rasp of a voice, as well as his lightning-fast guitar prowess. It's a shame that these guys couldn't have achieved the same acclaim as mainstream metal acts like Godsmack, Korn, Disturbed, or Slipknot, all of whom they put to shame with their intense brutal sound. I could kick myself for not knowing about them sooner. Thank goodness one of my good friends pointed them out to me after I was telling her about all the heavy groups I listened to. She told me that CoB were way heavier than the aforementioned groups, and now I know she wasn't kidding.Anyways, enjoy! And as always, ROCK ON!!! \m/ \m/

Quintessential COB album
To me, this is the quintessential COB album. It has elements of Hatebreeder and their early stuff but marks their transition towards a more modern version of themselves. This album has an explosive rawness that seems to get lost on later albums. Similarly to Lamb of God's "Ashes of the Wake" or Avenged Sevenfold's "City of Evil," this is the album where the band just went for it. It only sounds like Children of Bodom and to me, will be the essence of their sound.

Bodom. What else do I need to say?
This record, like all records from Children of Bodom, is great. It has their signature sound that we all love, it's heavy; fast, hard hitting, sharp and a little groovy too. Everything on this record is flawless because the band has spent so much time making sure what they do, is perfect. They make the music they wan, how they want, and it always comes out great.

Those Japanese fans know there stuff
I don't normally like this kind of music, but when I read this c.d. was voted best rock album + best guitar riff [Needled 24/7+Chokehold], + best guitarist [Alexi Laiho], in Japan's Young Guitar magazine [april 2004], I had to investigate, and I wasn't disappointed, the compositions are like no other band in this gnere, the riff's are inspired not 'made up', I rate this album along with [but not sounding like] Def Leppard' Hystera, Aerosmith's Pump, Van Halen's Van Halen, Extreme's Pornograffitti, and Dream Theater's Images and Words. Pure genius.
