I bought a newer samsung 980 pro ssd For my older motherboard, knowing that it would not fit. This product saved the day and worked perfectly as advertised.

The instructions were clear and it fit perfectly so I can have extra storage on my pc. The only downfall I have is I can’t get the protective back for the ssd to stay on but it’s just a sticky soft protection to place there for extra protection

Shorted out on second use.
Terrible. Short contacts, plastic mounting base that doesn't fit properly. The heatsink is too short and is held on by rubber bands. Worst part, it shorted out.

It helps PCIe 2.0 compatibility !! (With the right M2 SSD)
I bought this adapter for a dual Xeon project I built. I was VERY happy to notice my TimeTec M2 SSD was detected by Windows, before my SSD was initialized. I was then able to initialize, format and name the drive in Windows. Although it will only help in my PCIe x16 #2 slot, it still WORKS !!The heatsink and pads are a true gift !!!Very happy with this purchase !!A+P.S.: My motherboard is an Intel s5520scr. (LGA 1366, ECC DDR3)
