Don't waste your money
If you have any sewing experience at all, don't bother. I was expecting extraordinary outfits (that is what the title Baby Couture implied) and all that is in this book is ho-hum. If you want to create fabulous clothing for the little ones in your life, get the magazine Ottobre Design, you'll be happy you did!

can't wait to be a granny!
As a future grandmother..I Hope!! I found this book to be creative and helpful to make some very cute outfits for children. With the cost of clothes so high, its fun to put together a stylish fun set for your favorite little person..The book has several helpful ideas.

Cute fabrics. Repetitive patterns
I didn't find much variety in these patterns. Mostly pants that were too small for the models in the pictures. I got the book at a discount store. Definitely not couture. What made them interesting were the fabrics not the patterns.

You need to read between the lines to use this book!
So far, I have made 3 projects from this book, and have found ways to improve the directions and final product for all three. Many of the directions skip steps (especially the back of the dress pictured on the cover) or are confusing. This book is not for beginners. If the directions for the 2 projects shown on the cover are followed, you wind up with several raw seams showing. My grand daughter chafes from underarm seams, so I like to finish them and turn them into the lining - you have to know how to do that on your own for these projects, which is no big deal, IF you know how.I wasn't going to bother with a review until I started the 4th project this morning and realized that on p. 86, an entire fabric was left off the cutting instructions, making it seem all of the project is cut from one fabric type. Looking at the pictures makes it clear this is not so, but someone was not doing a very good job in the editorial department when this book was prepared for publication!All-in-all, I agree with those comments that are less than favorable regarding the usefulness of this book. If you are a beginning seamstress, you will be very frustrated trying to figure out what is NOT included in the directions. Sometimes you can figure it out by looking at the pictures, but not always. I DO like the use of simple square block, strips without patterns and other techniques that are common-sense means of creating skirts, ruffles and other embellishments. I also like the use of same patterns for multiple "looks", as my brain does NOT work that way and it is fun for me to see how different things can turn out looking with the same pattern when given a project idea.
