First, I'm very pleased with the quality of this product. Heavy, quality, beautiful. The swivel is smooth and leak-free and is a nice touch. Before you buy this, just like all the other reviewers have said, it absolutely requires the 4 screws to hold it. Your thin wall copper pipe in the wall will NOT be happy holding this plus what is probably a heavy showerhead as well. So make sure you have something solid to bolt in to. In my case, I opted to remove the entire shower wall and re-tile, so it was easy for me to add a 2x4 behind the showerhead to accommodate this. The other factor is that there is no flexibility in the depth. when the tapered pipe thread bottoms out, that's the installation depth. So either make sure the pipe in the wall can shift back and forth, or make some other fix. In my case the tile ended up too thick, so I had to buy a 2.5" diamond hole saw so I could inset the base into the tile wall.

This thing is a beast. It's heavy and well-made. We had it installed after a complete shower tear-out, so the plumbers were able to add additional framing between the studs in order to hold up this beast (and this is needed - the shower arm mounts with 4 long screws and it's heavy - you want it mounted into solid wood). I don't think it would be so easy to simply replace an existing shower arm with this, unless you know you have solid framing behind it. We paired it with a Delta raincan showerhead which pivots on its own, so this thing articulates fully! You can swing the arm all the way to the wall, and tilt the showerhead at an angle so it's as if you have a regular shower arm coming out of the wall, or you can swing it out to the center and enjoy an overhead rainshower experience. The only thing it doesn't do is telescope (ha)! You will want to make sure your tile and grout are completely set/hardened before screwing this thing in. We ended up with a few hairline cracks from overzealous power tools, probably because the adhesive behind the tile was still a little soft. It's not worth replacing the tile because this thing is rock solid and it would cause more harm than good to uninstall it so we sealed and will live with the tiny cracks. Maybe it'd even be a good idea to back-butter the tile around the showerhead just to ensure good full coverage on the back of the tile so that the tile can withstand the forces from drilling.

This shower arm is heavy metal and very high quality. Finally my shower doesn't spray water at my chest but overhead which is what I wanted. Nearly ideal design. Installation just a little different but nothing beyond ordinary handy skills most people buying this from Amazon already have. You'll be satisfied with it because so few of these things are well made. This is the good stuff, not cheapo plastic. Nice "heft" to the materials and it's beautiful too.

This is a rock solid and stylish unit from Hansgrohe that allows you to add height in the shower for either a rain head or other shower head. It swivels allowing you to move it to just the right location within the shower. Mounting was easy. Paired it with the Hansgrohe 27495001 Raindance S 150 AIR 3-Jet Shower Head and could not be happier.

I can't give it five stars because good God it's expensive for what's effectively a metal puck, swivel valve and 18 inches of pipe, but it's definitely the real deal on the quality side. It is very heavy; probably at least ten pounds. There are four long screws that come with it that are a fairly decent diameter, so if you're going to be mounting this on a shower that has porcelain tile installed, better order a bunch of cutting bits with it. It really should only be mounted where at least two of the screws can bite into a stud, because if someone accidentally gives it a good whack and you've only secured it to backer board, it may come down given the weight. The pipe can be rotated freely in the puck after install, so you're able to position your shower head not only where it can be moved to itself, but you can also swing all the way to the wall on either side. Not much more to say about it given how simple the product is.
