HPH-MT5 Monitor Headphones, Black

I used a program to equalize the speakers. They sound incredible. With the software, I was able to flatten the waveform, turning them into tone of the best headphones I have l9stened too. They don't get hot either. I listened to music 4 hrs. straight, and experienced rich sound, and no discomfort. I have never seen such a long cord before. The headphone end pushes in and you lock it in with a slight turn. This means if something happens to the cord, it can be replaced. The cord length is extremely long. I can sit in any position without worrying bout the cord. The sensitivity of the headphones means you can plug it into anything. The sensitivity makes it great for phones, and for my computer, which has an awesome sound card, the sound is rich. Plugged into my Onkyo amp, well, the volume (using the 1/4" included adapter) is incredible, clear and crisp, with bass volume being heard, not boomed.. The headphones size puts the speakers close to your ear, without touching then. These headphones fit your head perfect, they feel like the sizer was made for me. They also are very light.

I’m sure there are much pricier headphones out there that may sound a teensy bit better, but I wouldn’t know, because these sound great already. I play classical piano and use these with the N1X. I get migraines easily, but these are light enough with a small enough clamping force that they are quite comfortable. The cord is easily long enough for any digital piano use, let alone using it with a PC, and the headphones also feel pretty sturdy. So far I love them and use them pretty regularly. My boyfriend also has used them and they fit him well, despite his head being larger than mine. Overall, for the cost? This is the one ;)

These headphones are very good.

Just received these Yamaha HPH-MT5s this morning. I've been listening to music through them for a few hours and I'm just amazed how well they sound especially for the price. I got them on sale for $85. They sound more like $200 headphones 🎧. The music sounds so smooth and accurate, very balanced with very low distortion even at high volume. The sound is so precise and accurate, it feels like I'm right in the recording studio with the artists. These are my first pair of Yamaha headphones 🎧 and I have purchased their speakers and amplifiers and receivers over the years and have never been dissatisfied with them. They fit well, even though they're a little snug, they are probably one of the most comfortable headphones I own. I would recommend getting them definitely when they are on sale. I think you will be amazed as much as I am when listening to music with them. It just feels fun and even relaxing to enjoy your music just as they recorded and mixed it in the studio.

Prior or this Yamaha HPH MT5, I have and still used the Sony MDR 7506, Sennheiser HD 569, Audio-Technica ATH-M50X for hobby instrumental and vocal recordings. I tried each for every single task: keyboard, bass, vocal, mixing, music listening. They sound okay, but somehow I always feel something is missing. Once I used this MT5, all of the sudden everything is there, full, clear, present. Even Hans Stamer old tracks sound wonderful and more (from the previously missing sounds). I am not a pro, far from it, so I cannot explain what happened. Maybe the ear cups sealed better (but not tighter)? Maybe the sound reproduction is better? I have no idea. But this is the winner for fewer dollars (on sales now, even better). Anyhow, I watched Youtube's Damir Franc reviews for both the MT5 and MT8 and got this MT5 since Franc stated it was more suitable for studio work. But now since this MT5 is really good for what it is designed for (?), I'm curios if the MT8 is good for music listening. Who knows. I'm not a pro, so nothing to lose lol.

Out of the box I found the mids a little shouty and harsh. I put some other more oval shaped leather thinner ear pads and it was magic, clearer sweeter air vocals and more noticeable treble. In headphones I own, I currently rate these the best for the money for non-bass heads. They do not have a lot of bass but it's flat and more accurate that way. I prefer it for well recorded music. Anyways ratings of my best using the Fiio BTR5 as the DAC amp through LDAC 990kbps: 1) Sennheiser HD600 2) Yamaha HPH-MT5W (modded with pads, fat pads won't work well, you need thin close to the ear for these) 3) Fostex T50RP MK3 (heavily modded with internal damping and sound absorbing material) 4) Koss KPH30i 5) Koss Porta Pro 6) Marantz Pro MPH-2 7) Audio-Technica ATH-M40x The Fostex (heavily modded) and Yamaha (with pad mod) are a toss up for 2nd place, some tracks I prefer the Fostex and some the Yamaha. Yamaha HPH-MT5W and Koss KPH30i stock are great value audio that performs really well. None of these headphones are bass heavy but the Marantz Pro MPH-2 and ATH-M40x have more bass.

Truly an amazing experience. I think lot of sound engineers , musicians , arrangers underestimated the YAMAHA headphones as they don't have that much of varieties . But according to my opinion they are very good for home recordings/Mixing compared to other expensive studio monitoring headphones. They do have little bit mids & highs strong than low end but not that bad also which can ruin your balance. Definitely recommend for those who don't want to spend extra money but looking for decent product.

the pads are way to short I got the Brainwavz Angled Memory Foam Earpads way better fit and slightly more bass they do sound close back and lack that nice air quality but otherwise are good and flat in sound I did burn them in with white noise to flex to them a bit before and after are almost the same unlike others so it seems like yamaha has something nice and professorial here
