Use the underside of the cutting board to slice bread or cut vegees, cheese or fruit, and use the top side for serving bread, cheese, appetizers, etc., or just use it as a platform for the bowl The top fits securely with a lip, and the cutout for the serving utensils works well as a thumb hole to carry the bowl. The feel is substantial yet light weight. The utensils fit inside for storing. The bowl can be used as a fruit bowl, cold or hot pasta, or salad. The large size is great for party buffets, potlucks or large family meals. It worked great, I even used the lid as a cutting board to add some apples to the salad before serving. My only "complaint" (albeit minor) is that the bowl and utensils feel and look a little "cheap" - I know it says it's bamboo fiber but it looks/feels just like hard plastic. Would have given 5 stars, but it came with a little scratch inside the bowl. Unfortunately, due to current circumstances, I don't have the time to deal with returning it. I oiled it with food-grade mineral oil as specified and that helped minimize the scratch, but, sadly, it's still there. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with the bowl.
