Has anyone caught fish with this pole spear? Caught fish other than lion fish?

I have speared hogfish with it using a different tip.

There was no tip included?

It does come with a tip and even a little cover for the tip.

Does anyone know if I could put the tip in a checked bag and take the 3ft pole with me on an airplane?

Probably not. Security will no doubt see it. Since the piece is "weapon"-like, very much doubt you can sneak it through.
