Every year the Mekong River recedes and the tropical sun's searing heat gives rise to the beautiful river grasses that are selectively harvested for our purses. After being hand dyed and woven on traditional wooden looms, the 'tatami' mats are then cut and sewn into the beautiful designs that makeup our purses and accessories. We employ basket makers, mat weavers, and purse makers/stylists, and our goal is for our workers to feel valued and, in exchange, help us create higher and higher quality products. We provide a living wage, a healthcare safety net program, yearly dividends, and schooling options. Sustainability Our baskets are made from a fast growing reed grass that grows throughout Cambodia. Because we believe in sustainable harvest, we leave enough of the natural grass to ensure it's return the following year, but also take enough to help manage the land it's growing on. The raw materials are all organic, free of pesticides and herbicides. The dyes that we use on our products are certified non-toxic dyes by the European Union. We are continuing to strive to make our dyes 100% natural, while also ensuring the quality of the dye. ## Features - The Kiri Wave has an eye-catching, unique shape It's innovative features include gorgeous handwoven Tatami style body, handbraided straps, double zipper that opens to the bottom of the purse, red beaded zipper pulls, and 2 detachable straps that can be connected to convert it to a crossbody purse. - This Kiri Wave purse is made with rich deep caramel colored tatami, and is trimmed with black fabric. Dimensions: Length is 12 inches, Height: 9 inches and Width: 4 inches. When using 2 shoulder straps, the drop is 9 inches. - Saraye Original Tatami purses are durable and strong. Each handbag has 2 zippered pockets and 3 open pockets. The zipper is high quality YKK. To clean, use a vegetable brush and water, then air dry. (Do not submerge the purse in water.) - Tatami is made with sustainably and organically grown river grasses. The grasses are hand dyed with non-toxic dyes, and hand woven on traditional wooden looms.
