WOW in Marshall JVM410JS Head!!!
So I bought a $2600 reconditioned Marshall JVM410JS (Joe Satriani) head trying to chase that perfect guitar tone. The amp is second to none but I got bored with the tone after a few years. It might be that the tubes needed replacing being that the stock Marshall preamp tubes were dated 2009 but even with with same old power tubes, these Mullard preamp tubes sound absolutely phenomenal! I couldn’t believe how drastically preamp tubes could shape your tone. The mids are just simply perfect and the highs aren’t screechy or brittle anymore. I’m so incredibly impressed with these that I’m going to get some Mullard EL34’s to replace the stock power tubes too. I’ve heard a dozen sound comparison videos on YouTube of different brands but Mullards whether power or preamp are the way to go for anything classic rock or blues hands down... heck I’ve heard them sound great for metal heads too. I would 100% recommend these to any guitar player who is serious about their guitar tone!
