I could not tell if there was one on the orange side or not.** A: I don't remember exactly how I assembled the heat sink to the M.2. I believe the orange pad was only sticky (1 peel-off) on one side. It makes sense on the underside of the M.2 because most of the heat is from the chip on the upper side. I'm not sure why it is necessary on both sides of the blue one either. I held the sandwich together tightly while I tightened the screws. It is also important to line up the pads on the M.2 carefully, so the M.2 fits properly in its connector slot, and you still have room to fit the hold-down screw or twist-lock device in the "tail" end. If I remember correctly, I put the tail end of the pads right up against the edge of half-moon cutout. **Q: I know this heatsink is compatible with sn850, but is it also compatible with the newer version sn850x? thank you.** A: Same form factor. It’s very much worth it to purchase one of these to make sure there won’t be any issues in the future! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seems to work well *by on Reviewed in the United States November 8, 2024* TL;DR Easy to install and keeps the drive coolBig caveat: I used during building my first PC and am new to this so take with a grain of sand.This was on a secondary M.2 slot with a Samsung s990 pro.It was easy to install.I tested read and write performance and under a 30 minute stress test (two 15 min tests, one for read and one for write). The max temperatures I saw were 60 C for read and 70 C for write. Samsung says (under specs from their website) that the drive should operate between 0 and 70 C, so this is just within that range. However I have seen other SSDs hit well over 110 C in the stress test (esp during write), so I believe this heatsink is allowing my drive to operate well and with good thermals. Excellent quality, the kit includes tools and extra screws and even a setup video on YouTube.
