Not a problem. For low voltage lights, you can connect them regardless of the positive and negative.

What guage cable is needed? It shows 12/14/16, how do I know which?

My research told me the gauge of cable one uses is based on (1) d the transformer used; (2) the number and power of the lights on that particular run; and (3) the distance from the transformer to the farthest light of the run. Good luck.
