Another disappointment
DiSione's Virgin Mistress was a disappointment for me, especially after reading the glowing reviews by other readers. There were several reasons for me to dislike this story, but the primary reason is the cruel way in which the 'H' treated the heroine. Yes, he is a walking sex god, but he is also a self centered, arrogant, emotionally stunted douchebag. When he discovers that she had been desperately ill as a child, he wants no part of even a casual affair, despite the mutual desire. He constantly claims an unwillingness to hurt Willow, yet he does so with abandon. The premise of the story is: boy meets girl, girl accidently takes boy's suitcase .She offers to return said suitcase if he'll accompany her to a family wedding. She is tired of being an object of pity for not having a man, and because she had been so ill as a child. There is a bit too much over protection of Willow on the part of her family, which she accepts with resignation. But no self-pity. When she shows up with a handsome man in tow who also happens to be rich and famous, her family hears wedding bells. Someone tips off the press, and the couple are suddenly 'engaged'. Naturally, our 'Hero' is furious and unfairly blames Willow for planting the story. This drama felt so manufactured; any one of the dozens of guests at the wedding could have contacted the press, but to Mr. Wonderful's sense of logic, it had to have been part of Willows evil scheme to trap him. Because he's such a prize, don't you know? He suddenly forgets his vow not to hurt her. Now he has an excuse to treat her like crap. He forces her to accompany him to visit his dying grandfather, who naturally believes the engagement story.Willow is a kind, thoughtful, sweet woman, and she certainly doesn't deserve the insults and contempt the 'H' dishes out. Even after they become lovers, he still treats her like a bad smell. I don't understand all these flattering reviews. Why is disrespect and mistreatment of our heroine considered so romantic? It is true that 'H' does eventually decide that this beautiful girl deserves his love, but when she has the nerve to refuse his proposal, he responds with vicious scorn and a brutal physical attack that is more rape than lovemaking. To me, this cancels out any supposedly HEA that might follow. And I don't believe these two will have an HEA, anyway. I believe that at some point, Willow will transgress somehow, and her loving 'H' will revert to his true nature: that of a mean, selfish, entitled bastard.I used to like reading Sharon Kendrick's books. She used to allow her heroes to treat their heroines with kindness and respect. I really enjoyed those stories. I haven't noticed this in her more recent books. Although she is a good writer who seems to understand the rules of grammar and punctuation, she has lost the ability to make me confident in a Happily Ever After. When I read her books now, I just feel angry and sad..

Another okay story
I don't know why I am not loving the newest HP's. They are faithful, hot heroes and in this one he declared his love first. The h was sweet and I liked her too but the book didn't leave me feeling excited or pleased for the HEA. It was just okay. I need to maybe re-read it later. I usually adore this trope and something must be off with me.

Don't want to read again.
It was not horrible, but not good. It was just too long winded with a lot of unnecessary angst. I skipped a lot of pages because it never got going for me. That could mean that my review could be skewed, as I could have missed pertinent content. Though highly unlikely,as I was able to catch up each time.

Loved this one
Another great story in this series and one that had me turning the pages and sighing as Dante and Willow journey to such a great HEA one that has a few ups and downs but is just so very sensual.Dante Di Sione has been hurt and shows no emotion getting involved with him he thinks would be just for sex but when he meets and is so drawn to the shy Willow and there is a mix up with bags and a bit of blackmail is involved he is struck by feelings and emotions that he thought never to have as he gets closer to the one person that can make him open up.Willow has been cosseted all of her life but it is time for her to open up to enjoy life to do the things that she sees her siblings do so when she meets Dante at the airport she decides that this is the time to do so and the strength that she shows is fabulous but she is such a caring person and when she gives Dante her precious gift and they end up in a fake engagement life as she knows it is about to change.I do highly recommend this instalment in this series Dante and Willow are made for each other the sensual spark between them sets the pages alight it is a moving emotional and beautiful story that I did not want to put down and I look forward to the next one I am loving this family and their journeys and learning more about the lost mistress's.
