Elegant and practical. Keeps coffee warm while you finish your first cup
I love how the container part is just a single piece. I have other coffee presses that have the handles secured to the container by metal bands that need to be tightened periodically. This one feels more sturdy. Most of all, I love the double walled insulation. I was surprised how well it kept my coffee warm. The only down side which is on me, not the product, hence the 5-stars, is that I was actually looking for a coffee press that I could fit into my microwave so that I didn't need to bring out my kettle to boil water. Turns out that this is an inch or two too tall for my microwave. That hasn't taken away any admiration I have for this coffee press. None of my other coffee presses were microwave safe. It's still the best on I've ever had. I know it's in my mind, but I swear my coffee tastes better in this coffee press than in any other one I ever owned.

Happy to have but there's no base to it: FRAGILE
I bought this as a replacement to a Palm branded double-walled glass carafe french press. I greatly prefer and love the vacuum- seal of the double-walled glass carafe over ALL others - no metal tastes AND the coffee/tea stays warm for a far greater length of time than any other carafe available! These types of ALL GLASS DOUBLE-WALLED Carafe are very hard to find but invaluable and far superior to any other kind.First concern with this Sompuro brand carafe is that there is absolutely no footer for the bottom of the carafe so the glass is exposed to every surface for it's entire life. Glass scratches easily and every scratch mark is a weak point for glass that can lead to breakage. My second conren is the plunger and screen filter is almost loose-fitting to the carafe - not sure how well it will filter coffee grounds. I'm not bothered by a few grounds (more roughage in diet) but some might prefer a tighter fit. The metal parts feel flimsy.Fortunately I have a base from a different carafe that fits this Somburo carafe and I also have a better fitting plunger so with those two changes, this is a great little unit!I am happy to have found it and that it arrived so quickly.I do recommend it but with those two caveats: nothing to protect the glass base and the flimsy plunger.

Wouldn't rememmend - Cheap, junky
Too lazy to return, but would in a heartbeat. Wouldn't rememmend or buy again. Was excited to have a microwavable carafe. That's fine, can't mess up a glass pitcher. But the plunger makes it suck - it's just cheapo and junk. You know it won't last long. It is plastic on inside and the plunger pieces come loose way too easily so that you can't even plunge the coffee without it slanting. You can screw it again but the plunger piece itself is the screw so any rotating loosens it. If I didn't have a bodum top to put on it instead (it fit!) I would be much more annoyed at this purchase.

after 10 months, Want to like better - Actual cracks starting to show
I have used this daily for 10 months:-From the start, the lid never quite fit right, with the metal flange being just a bit too large for the glass inside diameter. Eventually I found it it was rotated just so, it would sort of stay in in place. I made a mark on the lid to align the secret spot to the spout to avoid the fumbling first thing in the morning before having had any coffee.-The plunger isn't that great and is missing the the coil spring that most have to keep the screen pressed against the outer glass wall. As a result sometimes the screen will pleat itself and create a gap that lets grinds through. Also the nuts that hold the whole thing together tend to keep loosening, until I took pliers and a wrench to the whole mess.- But the final straw is that last week I noticed cracks forming in the glass along the top rim on either side of the pour spout, that's a show stopper. NO actual glass seems to have chipped or flaked off, but my concern is that with these stress cracks now showing the whole thing may shatter one morning when I pour hot water into it.I hate to part with it, but there are others out there that I will try, and this is destined to become a planter or flower vase of some sort.

Unfortunately the screen and plunger is of a poor quality. The rod for the plunger is too ...
The insulated beaker works quite well. It kept what began as boiling hot water at a drinkable tempature for coffee or tea for about two hours. Unfortunately the screen and plunger is of a poor quality. The rod for the plunger is too short as well. I ended up using the screen and plunger from a bodum tea press instead. It seems that it is a good insulated beaker with the same widely available plunger and screen used in other inferior French presses.

Awesome carafe
This review is for only the glass carafe, which is very nice indeed. I make pour over coffee so the french press is not being used. Other reviews mention that it is flimsy and not very good, with which I would agree. However, I purchased solely for the carafe which is high quality and worth $20 by itself.

The carafe is really nice and keeps the coffee warm for quite a while
The carafe is really nice and keeps the coffee warm for quite a while. As other reviewers pointed out lid and plunger is a bit flimsy. I am using the lid and plunger from my Bodum with that I broke the carafe on and it works great.

Double walled beauty
Does what it says. Solid double walled glass chamber. I needed something I could heat up in the microwave at work and this does this well. The handle stays cool even right out of the microwave. I switched out the actual press part, I had a higher quality bialetti one, it fit perfectly. So ya. The glass is slightly thinner than I expected but oh well. Hopefully I can keep this one in 1 piece right.
