Didn't Work Great For Me
Conceptually it worked, but with some issues. In my case the logs are a bit longer than the splitter itself is (especially to the top of the blade). So you pound the log down on the blade and ultimately it doesn't split because the log hits the ground before it splits. Now the log is stuck in the unit.I'll say its well built in that its solid and it does not appear that it will have "structural" issues, but it did not work for me. If it did work I would think a larger base would help with stability.

Very effective tool for making kindling
This tool is very effective at making kindling. I can use this inside the house when it’s raining out. Don’t try to stuff a log into it that is <1” smaller than the diameter of the tool. It doesn’t allow the woods to split, kinda common sense. Grab a BFH and swing away. It works great on wood 18” in length and less in my experience. The paint will come off on the blade, again common sense. If you leave it outside when it rains it does start to rust at the welds. Other than that I’ll get another one when I get the stove up and going the the shop.

Works for what I needed it for
I have a hydraulic splitter and manually split with an axe. Some are too small to use with it or not long enough to fit in the splitter. This works great for the smaller logs to make kindling or split to burn easier. It also helps with those that are uneven and not able to split in normal ways. I have used it without being bolted down without issue and does not take much effort with a mallet to split the log. I use a 5lb sledge to "tap" the log to get it to split. Have not sharpened it yet but don't think normal use will dull it for some time.

Works very well.
This log splitter is working very well for us.. We got some wood that was much too big and it was not seasoned properly. After we split the wood it's burning much better.. I have seen other comments that said that it's not sharp, it's not supposed to be sharp. It works best for us if it is placed on a tree stump. We use a 4 pound mallet which is easier than an axe. It only thing I would change is to make it a little taller and a little wider.

Sturdy, well built kindling splitter
We love the price, the sturdiness, how it makes life easier splitting kindling. We still have to attach the splitter to a base so doesnt topple over with splitting. Great purchase!
