The balance of the dummy mimics a live duck. It throws well into the water. After 2 months of use it still floats but the rope slipped and had to be glued. I really like that the geometry of the body, head, and throwing handle teaches the pup how to pick up a bird. We mostly train with bumpers, and our golden pup picks them up a lot of different ways (like a cigar, for one) and tends to play around with the throwing line on the retrieve. She only comfortably picks these dummies up by the body.
