Honeycomb

One of my all time favorite singers. Every song is a gem that will touch straight to your soul. Love it!

This album was the first of Anne Heaton's that I've bought (I'd met her before I started listening to her music), and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it's an excellent work of art. The title track, "The Alchemist," is smooth and creamy and will stay in listeners' heads for days. "I Still Love You" is an emotional ballad addressed to a former love, and is neatly offset by the humorous "Watching You Win," about a high school crush. Anne's cover of Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" is sparse and gets right to the heart of the song, and her original "Last Drive" paints a perfect picture of the life of her grandfather. The "entracte" of the album is the Spanish-flavored, souful "Sin Verguenza," which may contain the funniest line I have ever heard in a song. The second half of Honeycomb is full of slow-tempo arrangements of other people's writing (besides "Losses of Her Ancestors"), including a gorgeous rendition of the Prayer of St. Francis and two arrangements of poems by Rumi, "Pearl Becomes Powder" and my personal favorite song on the album, "Two Human-Sized Wedding Candles."I might not be good at writing reviews, but I can tell you that this album pleased me and I haven't ben able to get enough of it. I'm sure you won't regret this purchase. Anne Heaton is a wonderful musician and her music delights me.

Anne Heaton has topped herself with this amazing album. Her voice is hauntingly beautiful and the songs are both inspired and inspiring. I think Alchemist is my favorite, but they all deserve consideration. She is a true gem with an amazing gift. If you don't believe me, download the album and see for yourself!

Anne Heaton writes, plays and sings from the most honest places of the heart. She seems to effortlessly turn her vulnerability into a guided tour of your own connections. Personal favorite is The Alchemist. Highly recommend the purchase of Honeycomb AND a visit to her website for lyrics.

That is the sign of a great album. The songs are creatively arranged, the sound is great, the lyrics are thoughtful and personal, Anne's voice is beautiful. This is a complex project yet she makes it sound easy and familiar.

Anne has a soothing voice through which she tells intricate stories with depth and purpose. I don't think someone could listen to this album without becoming inspired.It clicked. Like nursery rhymes and lullabies for adults.

Anne's talent shines brightly on Honeycomb. Her lyrics are so genuine, and the piano playing is just a bonus to me. This album does not disappoint!

I find Anne's work deeply touching, moving, lyrical and beautiful. This is my favorite of her cd's and I can't recommend it highly enough. Marcia Head
