Bates Men's Tactical Sport 2 Black Mid Boots

Very comfortable fit. Wear a 11 XXX in New Balance sneakers, so I ordered 11 extra wide, fit is "not loose and not tight" but just right. Once I verified the fit I applied OBENAUF's leather preservative and conditioner, wore them in the house. Softened up and formed to my feet, really good boot at a fair price, always wanted a pair of 1st responder/tactical style footwear, Bates filled the need for me, pleased with purchase.

This is my second pair of Bates Tactical Sport 2 boots, and so far they’re working well for the type of work I do. I swapped out the insoles for something more comfortable since I’m on my feet all day, and that helped a lot. My first pair lasted over a year, but since I didn’t take the best care of them, I needed a replacement. The boots are definitely lightweight and comfortable, but there are a few minor drawbacks. The eyelits tend to come loose over time, and the larger ones were sharp enough to fray my laces. I had to file them down. I also had a small issue where the leather started separating from the sole, likely due to insufficient glue. I fixed it myself, and it’s holding up fine now. I’m rough on my boots, so I’m not sure if these issues are a quality-control problem or just how I wear them. Overall, they’re a solid boot, and I’ve learned to polish and maintain the leather to extend their lifespan.

I have had several pairs of version 1 mid-height boot and they were great. These version 2’s are absolutely miserable. I swear they are made for people with ankles the size of tree trunks. The tongue of the boot goes halfway around my leg and leaves welts where they sit on the left boot. On the right boot, it doesn’t do it. However, on the right boot, the part the lace goes through at the top is so long on one side that the boot ties off center towards the inside of my leg. These are also very stiff in comparison to the originals and they come up higher as well. I am very disappointed in these boots. I’ll probably end up throwing them in the garbage since it’s outside of the return window. Bates really screwed the pooch on this boot. 8 month update: Even worse than I originally rated them at 1 star. Eyelets are all falling out. It’s impossible to properly adjust them because of the lace lock. in order to have a good fit I have to fight it each and every time. What a poor design. Stay away from this garbage.

Quick shipping, accurate description, great fit, wonderful work boots. They are holding up very well. When the needs arises, I would buy again.

Over all construction of the boot is okay. Only downside with the boot are the eyelets for the laces. This is the 2nd pair I have bought where the plastic backing on the eyelet has broken. I have only worn this pair for 2 weeks with primary office use. No rugged or hard terrain use involved.

Très confortable, trop chaude pour l’été. Bon pour les 3 autres saisons. A l’air de bonne qualité. J’adore. À voir à l’automne prochain pour tester la qualité. Ne regrette pas de l’avoir acheté pour le moment. Les grandeurs son bonne. Pas trop petit ni trop grand. Pas trop étroite ni trop large.

Wore out my last pair of Bates Boots metal detecting in the desert areas. Needed a pair of boots that had NO METAL in them and a snake proof boot. THESE FIT THE BILL. Very HAPPY and they fit perfect.
