Work great
Used these to start several campe fires. They are very easy to use and spark off nice. They are a good size and have lasted for a long time.

These really work!
I have several styles of ferro rods and strikers. These work just fine. I'm considering lengthening the cord to be able to put more power into the strike. But don't be a sissy when you strike. Strike with a firm stroke. You will very likely want to first scrape down the side you will use the striker on to remove any coating, etc. For best results don't strike by using the wrist action alone; rather, allow the whole forearm and hand to come down at the same time. I also recommend carrying tinder of some sort, such as cotton balls smeared on one side with vasoline. Aim your spark directly onto the treated cotton ball to extend the life of the spark. Practice in a safe place because once the flame ignites, it will be fast! You can do this. If you try forever and "it doesn't work", it's user error. Keep trying until you figure out what works best and fastest for you.

Functional But Not Great
Mostly functional, but I'll have to keep looking to find a better firestarter. Eventually worked to start our camp fire after A LOT of striking, and I found that the magnesium tube comes out of its plastic holder when being struck sometimes. Also, one of the whistles on the Extremus 6-in-1 Magnesium Fire Starter with Striker was defective, which made the kid that got that one sad because the other kid was able to whistle, while kid two's didn't work. The compass seems to be more of a gimmick than a real compass. Overall, these are functional fire starters, but more of a novelty.

Great for emergencies
It takes a few strikes to get started to remove a coating...but it's got a great spark!

Better than I expected
Bought this on Cyber Monday because I have a couple different brands of these but can you really have too many at a reasonable price? It was a two pack but I’ve only used one. I was surprised how “beefy” they were versus others I’ve purchased for more. I stuck it a few times after opening, used it to light a fire tonight & was shocked about the amount of the sparks. Either I got a defect or they put a tiny lip on the striker that makes a massive amount of sparks per strike. Whistle didn’t work worth a crap, don’t think the “saw blade” is going to saw anything but a twig. The compass does work better than my iPhone . Anyways, definitely worth the money I paid.

Ok, but not great
The striker included on the unit will not spark. I used a knife, and it does spark.
