Fortunately, this has not been a problem! It heats up in 90 seconds to two minutes without any burning, and it is plenty warm enough at that amount of time. It is also very nicely made, heavy, with plenty of seed filling, no smell, soft cover and includes a washable pillow case like removable cover to keep it clean. I've had it for about a week now and have seen no filling leaking out and the size is adequate for most uses. These pads do help with muscle soreness, stomach aches and that type of pain, without having to worry about plugging in to an outlet.
