Cute AND comfortable AND well made! It doesn't get much better!!
I am a scientist which means I spend a lot of time on my feet every day, and am required by safety regulations to wear closed toe shoes in the lab at all times. Since I just wear a lab coat every day I get to dress casually, but that doesn't mean I always want to wear my athletic sneakers every day. I'm always on the look out for comfortable, versatile closed toe shoes that are cuter and more fashionable than athletic shoes. I have worn Chuck Taylor slip ons in the past but truth be told they're too narrow for my feet and are uncomfortable for that reason. When I saw these I thought they'd be perfect! They're simple but cute and offer a great deal of support and comfort without being too big and chunky. I have very high arches and LOVE the arch support these offer!! That is so rare to find in a shoe like this! They are well made, high quality shoes. There was very little break in. I had a little rubbing on my heel the first day and it took the tongue a few wears to be really comfortable on the top of my foot (with a no show sock underneath) but otherwise felt great right out of the box! I always wear size 8.5 and these fit exactly as expected. I love that the laces aren't too long and I don't have big ugly bows or tails to flop around when I walk. Sometimes I tuck them in the shoe so they're not visible. Once you tighten them up they stay that way very well on their own without needing to be tied super tight. I couldn't be happier with this purchase and can definitely recommend these! I paid full price.

I was really surprised by these sneakers
My feet are evidently going through puberty again as they've grown from the women's size 9W that they'd been for my 20s and 30s to 10.5WW in my 40s. Fashionable shoe choices for feet this size that also address my other foot problems (namely moderately severe bunions and hammertoes) are almost nonexistent, so I've pretty much given up on "nice" shoes and focused on comfort. Just for reference, my right foot is 5" wide from bunion to bunionette and my left is 4.75" also from bunion to bunionette. These Taos Star sneakers are surprisingly stylish. I heeded previous reviewers' advice to buy a half size up and ordered these in 11W. The fit is just the slightest bit off: the back of the shoes are a touch too wide so my heels slide around (causing my socks to roll underneath my foot) while the front half of the right shoe is a touch too narrow to accommodate my bunions and pinch my pinky toes, causing blisters on my bunions where the tongue meets the shoelace eyelets. A previous reviewer mentioned that the toe box is angled a bit oddly, like a narrow almond shape, and I have to agree. Arch support is impressive to me: there's no abrupt hump on the inside edge of the shoe the way there often is in other shoes. The arch support is gradual and starts almost on the outer edge of the insole. Maybe I'm just easily impressed. :) These Taos sneakers feel stiff in the soles and insoles as I walk; there's not a lot of flexibility so it feels a little like I'm wearing hard shoes instead of sneakers. Weirdly, my feet don't feel as tired or achy after a long day of running around in these as they do in actual athletic shoes. In spite of my complaints, I would buy these again but maybe use a shoe stretcher to widen it out a bit in the toe box.

If you're on your feet all day, these are great!
I'm a substitute teacher, and I'm often on my feet most if not all of the day. Many of the students I work with have special challenges, and my job requires me to be very physically capable. Taos shoes are my favorites for offering support, being so comfortable I forget I have them on, and being a cute and unobtrusive style. The upper canvas is durable enough that I can often just brush off dirt, and the bottom soles have a good grip without having those annoying holes in them that collect dirt and debris. I wouldn't run in these, but if your job requires a lot of walking/standing, they're pretty good. The sizing is a teeny bit short - I'm between a 9 and 9.5 and I definitely need a 9.5 in these, so order accordingly.

Don’t get these shoes wet!
These sneakers are cute and fairly comfortable but a little stiff. I wore them in NYC and Boston for five days straight and they held up well but I wanted to clean them up a bit when I got home. I removed the footbeds and wiped them down and then sprayed and rinsed the shoes and put them in the shade on the deck to dry. When I brought theM in I noticed that the layer under the footbed was starting to tear apart. It appears to be pressed paper which is hard to believe in a sneaker that’s over $100! I complained to the company and they said it appeared I had submerged the shoes so they wouldn’t replace them. I didn’t read anything about not washing the shoes or getting them wet. They are definitely wearable and I hope they last awhile but I’m very disappointed in the quality of the shoes and the company’s response.

Give time for poor inventory organization
Wrong style and colorBut I can say they have good arch support, plim sole a bit hard- solid, not too cushy. Returning for the style color I ordered.

Comfortable
I’ve bought Taos shoes before and they are so comfortable- it’s probably wise to buy a half size larger - I love the color (blue) to wear with my jeans!

High arch, runs small
So great but not a good fit for my feet. The arch support was too high and the shoes run small. They really are so lovely though, great quality.
