Out of this world and very much in it
This book made me happy to be alive. That’s a lot to say at the end of a second year of global pandemic and in the midst of climate disaster. The fact, though, that a young and queer female teen can write poems that face the truth of pain and loss, trauma and heartbreak, longing and loneliness, with such honesty and bravery means that all is not lost.Even when Laika dies in the end. And mothers leave. And cats go missing. And kisses are unreturned. If you want to know how poetry can show us how to reenter the world with a hope that comes from hard-won healing, buy this book.

Very impressive work from a young writer
This book was very refreshing and impressive. I know the author is early in her career but her work shows years of experience. I loved the theme of Laika tying all of these works together. I’m looking forward to much more work from Maggie.

A remarkably talented young writer!
These poems feel intensely personal and intimate but at the same time they speak to universal human emotions and longings. A well-crafted, thought-provoking, and bravely introspective debut collection.
