Q: Can anyone explain the differences / advantages between the black rubber and the blue silicone replacement cups?

Black cups are a rubber material and primarily used for Outdoor Use. When used indoors, they can leave scuff marks on floors and walls. In addition, they are not recommended to be used around heat. The Blue Silicone Cups are a silicone material, heat resistant up to 500 degrees, and are best for indoor use. When used outdoors, they do tend to deteriorate at quicker rate. Q: Can the bolt be taken out and be replaced with a longer bolt?

No, the bolt is imbedded in the cups. For extra measures, I also put Beacon 527 glue on to ensure not losing or breaking them. I'm extremely hard on my Gopher, abusing and overusing it at least 6 months of the year. These are great. I've had no trouble or even the slightest sign of them loosening or giving out on me. Normally, I would have had to buy another Gopher in 3-5 months and would have had to search for lost cups many times, trade out parts and use a lot of glue. These things are great. When needed I'll be reordering them.

Our Replacement Cups do NOT come with a Screw but rather have a bolt that is molded into the cup & it attaches to the reacher with a Lock Nut. Our Replacement Cups will fit all models of ArcMate's Reaching Tools. We can't guarantee that our Replacement Cups will exactly fit our competitor's products (such as the Gopher) & you may need to widen the holes in your competitor's tool to allow our bolt to slide through & have our replacement cups fit properly.

Q: What size screw size are these?

The EZ Reachers are all the same size. They don't come in Small, Medium of Large, so the replacement cups will fit yours easily. I bought 3 sets, just to have on hand. Good quality.
