Broken & Useless on Arrival. (UPDATED)
WiFI password was not the default and was unchangeable which made the device inaccessible. Obviously this was a defective return re-shipped as new. UPDATE - Re-evaluated from 1 Star to 5 Stars and here's why: Customer Service Depstech reached out to me and sent me a replacement unit last winter. Same model, and worked fine. Device design had it's limitations (which they and I discussed at length) but they did me right, listened to my grumbles and got me up and running. An easy bump to 3 Stars (my bad because I forgot to update the review). Fast-forward 6 months, Depstech reaches out to me again: They were verifying my current address as they wanted to send me a newer version of my E-Scope, all they asked in return was for me to play with it and, if I would, upgrade my review. I agreed. I must admit I am impressed (not easy to do). The new device has many of the improvements we had spoke of and its performance is much improved: Reset button - a must have item and added to the new device A new App - easy to use and integrates well on my iPhone (No droid to test with) I liked the 90 degree rotation option as well, nice touch. Improved resolutions - even better, you can easily select the res you want. Spring clip - grips your phone snugly, even the larger ones (I have an Iphone XS Max). This is the best improvement by far. Using the device is much easier and handling it is much smoother. I found the new device to be an excellent replacement and send many kudos to their customer service department for going the extra mile by reaching out to me (unprompted) and letting me try out their improved device. That said, I do have 2 recommendations that have no impact on the 5 Stars I'm now giving this device: 1 - The brightness wheel is a little touchy and loose which makes it hard to get the exact level desired. A smoother wheel with a wider dim range would help. 2 - Recess the power switch or make it a timed button (2 sec press to power off/on). I inadvertently powered the device off a couple of times when I was trying to adjust the brightness while it was attached to the phone. Depstech has done a great job with this excellently improved device and I would not hesitate to recommend this to a friend or anyone looking for a good, portable endoscope.

Does the job pretty well, recommend for occational use
I like the product in general. Used to inspect chimneys, pipes, pull the wires through walls. Very handy. Picking a model which relies on a phone as a screen was probably not a good idea. Endoscope definitely works as advertised and the picture quality is very decent. What I did not like is that the device talks to the phone over WiFi directly i.e. you have to disconnect the phone from your access point and connect to a WiFi presented by the endoscope. Since the phones tend to connect to the access points in the house, a slight signal strength fluctuation disconnects the device. You can work around that by disabling automatic connections on the phone, but it is all a lot of hassle, which you may opt to go with to save some change on the endoscope without a screen. The phone application that comes with the device is extremely basic and awkward to use. WiFi connection probably takes up quite a bit of power, so the battery charge does not last long. I had to recharge the unit multiple times in a day while working on a project. Maybe it is just a battery that has a fairly low capacity. All in all the device is well made and very handy. If you are planning to use it only occasionally, then saving some money on the dedicated screen is worth it. If you are going to use it frequently, probably not.

DIY and save money.
I never write reviews but the people need to know about this camera. Our bathtub stopper was getting stuck and the water would slowly drain during the kids' bath time. I knew it was probably some toys that were blocking the stopper from engaging all the way down. Word of advice, never remove the drain protector cover because it allows all kinds of things to get down there. See the photos. Anyways, I ordered this camera because of the thousands of 5 star reviews and the price and I said ill give it a shot. The wifi app setup worked very fast and didn't disconnect once. The picture quality was so clear and the attached led lights allowed me to clearly see what was going on inside the pipe. I placed the camera through the drain hole and used a hooked clothing hanger through the stopper/overflow pipe to fetch out a tiny toy panda and an alphabet wooden puzzle piece LETTER O! The O piece fit so perfectly inside the pipe I thought it was a loose gasket or something until I hooked it out. Everything fixed and the stopper works like new again. You probably won't use it more than a couple of times but for $30 it's obviously worth it because I'm sure a plumber would've tried to charge me hundreds of dollars for "labor" to do the same exact thing and this took me roughly 20 mins, most of the time spent just trying to fish out the damn panda. Cross one off the honey do list.

Nice little boroscope...but the right-angle mirror doesn't work.
I bought this boroscope to help diagnose vehicle problems. As anyone who has worked on a car made in the last 20 years knows, you have little room to work and often can't see what you're working on! This little boroscope can really help with that problem. First - the good! It worked right out of the box. Putting the software onto my Kindle HD8 from the Google Play Store (I have play store side-loaded onto the kindle) was easy and following the directions, it immediately worked. Playing around with it in normal room light, the camera is really pretty good. It's not HD-quality...but you're not going to get HD quality in a camera this small! The app seems to work well. When I took it out to the driveway and started using it to look for a coolant leak in my truck, it continued to work well. Takes some getting used to - but I learned pretty quick how to adjust the LED brightness for the best picture, etc... I really like that the cord is flexible, but yet stiff - I had to mold it into a J shape to get a look under the water pump pulley from below while inserting it into the engine bay from above. The LED lighting works well and has a very wide adjustment range. I took a couple of pictures - the first two above are with the boroscope as-received, without any of the adapters hooked up. I like the little hook adapters - I'll probably be using these in the future. They screw on firmly and I'd have no problems using them to "fish" stuff from delicate places like engine intakes, cylinders, etc... Second, the not so good! The DEPSTECH application is not available from Amazon - or at least I couldn't find it after a couple of searches. For me that was no big deal, my Kindle HD8 is setup with the Google Play Store side-loaded, so I got it from the play store. For folks with Kindles without Google Play side-loaded...not sure you'll be able to use this. However, side-loading Google Play isn't hard and really opens up the Kindle to software you just cannot get from Amazon. It would be nice if the app could be available thru the Amazon App Store. I was very disappointed with the right-angle mirror adapter. The third picture was taken with it installed. It's almost like the camera isn't aligned with the mirror, so only a portion of the mirror is in the field of view of the camera. The rest of the image outside the mirror is the camera looking straight on. Also, the mirror seems to not be all that reflective - taking away a lot of the light from the camera! It's pretty useless, which is a shame as one of the selling points of this camera was the right-angle mirror adapter. I played around with the mirror for a good 20 minutes, thinking that perhaps it was dirty (it wasn't) or that it needed to not be screwed on all the way (that didn't help either). Adjusting the light level didn't help either. Maybe I got a bum mirror? Bottom line - for the price I paid, I'm three stars out of five happy. Outside the right-angle attachment, it's a five-stars tool. I'm sure it's going to save my bacon in the future. But I really was looking forward to using the right-angle mirror, so when that didn't work...I had to take away two stars as that was the main reason I chose this unit over others. Update 14 JAN 2019: Was contacted by Depstech customer support - they are going to send another right angle adapter. Very good customer service - so I added a star to make it four stars. Will update again when I receive the new adapter. Update 23 JAN 2019: I received the replacement right-angle adapter a few days ago. Clearly, the first one I received was a dud - these new ones looked much better. The mirror was absolutely crystal clear, while the old one seemed like it had a film on it that was bluish-white in color. I installed it onto the boroscope and gave it a test. It works much better than the old one. It's not perfect, but for the price, it's very reasonable and will get the job done. As another review said, when using the right angle adapter, you've got to be very careful in setting the illumination as you can white-out the image quite easily. So I'm updating this to a five star review considering what the unit cost and taking into account the EXCELLENT customer service I get from Depstech. These guys stand behind their product, respond to e-mails, and made things right for me.

Good Thing, for the Thing That It Is
I have to admit that before i received this gizmo i was ambivalent about my purchase. I had a $25 gift card someone gave me for Christmas and hadnt found a use for it, and then i got roped in by a discount. But hey i fix things, i like tools, so i reckoned if it performs at all then it's worth having. Now that i've had a bit of time to play with it i can see it being very useful, perhaps indispensable. Because i can easily conjure all the times prior to now when i didn't have it and really could've used it. Yeah it feels a bit cheap and i wish there were better ways to connect it. But i haven't experienced the specific troubles some folk have mentioned, like overheating of the base. The battery is very short lived but as others have pointed out this is easily remedied with an external power source. And even though the wifi thing is a bit of a nuisance, between that and the fixed focus this thing would function just fine as a makeshift security cam. Heck the thing even works fine on my first-gen iPad. Even the recording. This was a pleasant surprise since it gives me a much larger screen than my phone. I do want to respond to some of the comments about the attachments being "dumb" because they block the view. This is just not the case, and i wonder if people who said this haven't even tried them. I mean even the magnet head, which looks like it SHOULD block the view because it's practically the same diameter as the scope lens, still allows plenty enough view to guide you to whatever you're trying to catch. I can't give it four stars because it isn't a four star product. It just, isn't. But i'm happy with it and happy i live in a time when such technology is available to consumers at an affordable price.

Crisp images, easy to use, great tool!
So far this camera has performed exactly as needed. We got it to help find a possible dead animal in the wall. We didn't find it with this (it ended up being elsewhere up in the attic), but we were able to see very clearly - crisp view as you're watching. After turning it on, we were able to connect immediately to the wifi and popped open the Depstech app and there it was. The LED worked really well and was plenty for seeing within the wall, as well as a boxed area against the ceiling. I'm not sure what the range of visibility is with the light in the dark, but we did see a couple of feet in a space that was pitch black. We didn't try any of the attachments yet. Out of the box the unit has a charge, although possibly not a full charge. We used it for at least 15 minutes before the battery went low. However, we were very pleased that we could still operate the camera while it was plugged in via standard micro usb connector. Because the camera "snake" length is so long, this did not pose any issue with our usage of it. You can also take "Screen captures" as well as video. We used the video for a decent-length clip so that we could review some areas more closely and slowly. That came in super handy! We're very pleased with this purchase and will certainly be using this further. I could see it being incredibly useful for mechanics, PC repair, all sorts of applications. Because the end of the camera is water resistant (it can go under some water for a few minutes), I was very happy to be able to soak the end component it in isopropyl alcohol for a bit, and then wipe it off, and also wipe the length of the "cable" with alcohol-soaked paper towel. I'm a germaphobe, so wanted to clean it since it was in the wall and who knows what's been back there! I'd definitely purchase this again, and will be thinking to whom this would make a useful Christmas gift as I like to share good products.

Connecting the โWi-Fi โ & app was confusing
So I needed this because I didnโt want to pay a base pay of $200 to a plumber to come see if I had a toy stuck in my bathtub drain. Anyways, the connecting part was a bit confusing and I donโt feel I did it right but video popped up even though it said I wasnโt connected to the โWi-Fiโ on the camera which in reality is Bluetooth. But it shows in your Wi-Fi section of your phone. But like I said video popped up on the app they make you download so I just went from there. For the price you pay I think itโs worth it. It is water proof because we did turn the water on several times and watched water flow through the drains on camera. I didnโt however allow the box portion to get wet only bc thatโs where the charging port was and just felt that wasnโt meant to get wet. Could have been in the description I just didnโt read that far maybe. Either way the product served itโs purpose for the most part. The only feature I wish it came with was the ability to zoom out. I felt like we were up close in personal with ever angle as the scope went further in the drain and couldnโt quite make out what was what. Unless the camera was coming up to something head on then yes, we seen it in a distance. Again, overall it was worth it despite the bad reviews I seen back in 2017 which kept loading when I went to read reviews. Thereโs one review on here thatโs long as hell and that person is the one I trusted the most he was so accurate about the product. Oh, there was a toy tire in the drain. Never seen the tire my husband was just randomly shoving the โgripper/clawโ thing down there and pulling it off and sure enough we found a toy tire. Lol overall good product served itโs purpose and the drain drains now and saved my self $150! Beat that suckers!

Color me IMPRESSED.
Great! product at this price point. I though WiFi connectivity might degrade the device.. It doesn't.. I'm now glad it's WIRELESS :o) More value than expected in packaging and documentation. This camera exceeded my expectations. Setup was fairly easy. I didn't need to create a "account" to use this device. Small "gotcha" was that the newly downloaded Android app opened in Chinese (for me at least) :oO The fix was to locate the correct (Chinese labeled) button in the software and change it to English... It is located toward the bottom on the screen (sorry, can't remember more that that). Otherwise the software was amazingly clean and easy to use.. fast and to the point. To access the camera (device is battery powered or USB, sweet), turn it on, wait a few seconds (watch lights), then connect your Android or iPhone to the new WiFi network it created. The preset password and WIFi host name are in the paper instructions. Once you are connected, just start the APP... This is where you will want to change the language if you prefer English. One weird issue I had "at first": When I first started the actual video (on my Android screen)... the bottom 1/2 of my screen had trouble displaying the image. The top half was fine.. The bottom half was breaking up. Turning up the LED light (in a dark environment) made it worse... blaw blaw balw. Once I went into the "resolutions settings" and changed it to a higher setting, the issue cleared up. Even after going back down to the default 640x setting. Now it's working perfectly... No problem. So I guess I'm saying is that my issues is a "non-issue" at this poing. Lucky ME! UPDATE: It popped back up for a sec and was back to good video.. will keep my eye on it but I don't see it being a show-stopper yet. There are several resolution scales. When changing the resolution, there is a button to the right of it to "commit" the settings... So basically it's a two button click to adjust. Video update rates was very good (slowing down acceptability at the uber high resolutions). In fact to my eye it's just smooth video, period. My "focus distance" seems to be a minimum of 1". 1.5"+ for the higher resolutions. I had a tendency to want to view images even closer but I had to realize that it's not a "microscope"... 1"+ is pretty amazing as it stands. The "snapshot" and "video capture" options where really easy and straight forward to use. Click the Video button (it captures). Click Video again and it stops (all very quickly). Same for Snapshots. Click file folder to chose Video (or snapshot), click your file to play. No fuss not muss :) No SD card slot that I can see. But data is saved somewhere UPDATE: Oh, when you capture the image data, it is saved "on YOUR phone/tablet", duh 8OP Goose neck seems quite good. Controls are good. Camera image was quite good considering the price point. The entire cable is a "flex design". Not just the first few feet as I might have guessed. I'm going to use it to trouble shoot a engine's starter-pinion to ring gear interaction (buried in a bell-housing) + other automotive uses. I believe it will work perfect for this purpose. And without spending a TON. So I'm a happy camper. I guess that there is a reason that most of the reviews on this device are positive.. It's GR8T for the $.$$. NOTE: This device connects via a direct "WiFi connections", to Android or iPhone. From what I can tell, this "model" does not work with "laptops / Windows etc.. If you need PC/Apple operation, they sell a USB version. In the instructions there are parts that speak about versions of "Windows" it works with... and downloading software off of their website (which I actually never found). Now I believe that they may be referring to their USB models. A (simple) test is to plug the device into a Window's USB port. The results were that Windows did not respond or interact it (including the dreaded "Unknown-Device"). So no bueno from my quick test> The applicable software for this device is on the Android Play Store or Apple/iPhone site.

Quality product wit a heap of features
The inbuilt lighting and dimmer are fantastic as is the picture button facility. Really impressed with the quality and features. That said the instructions were a little difficult to follow but i went to school before electronic calculators let alone computers so take that with a grain of salt.

Simple to use; quick to set up
This scoping tool is actually not bad at all. It's easy to set up and use within a few minutes. The only downside is that the focal distance is quite short. that means that the picture looks rather fuzzy at anything over perhaps 15 centimetres. The lights work well out to that distance however. I was using this to scope for rodent activity in the spaces between floors of my house, and it worked well for that, despite having a relatively short imaging range. The shaft was firm enough to handle being moved out to its full length, which made a scan along the length of the floor joists quite simple. A good idea would be to have some kind of phone holder on a tripod or similar so that you can work solo - moving the camera while also juggling a smartphone is a bit tedious. DEPSTECH sent me this scope as a replacement for one that was never delivered by Amazon, and I'm glad to have received this model.
