What's the difference between acetyl l-cysteine and l-cysteine?

l-cystiene is the free amino acid available in a digested t-bone steak or piece of chicken. N-Acetyl Cystiene is an amino acid derivative. eg the naturally occuring amino acid is reacted with an acetylating agent on the amino acid nitrogen. Your body acetylates things all the time so dont worry about it. It wont do what it does if it isnt acetylated. In europe it is a drug called mucomyst

Previous NAC did not smell. Have purchased NAC 4x, 3 have been Jarrow. The other 2 Jarrow had no smell, nor did other brand(NOW). This bottle reeks. ?

NAC supplements can break down. If your prior two bottles of the exact same product did not have odor, you are right to question your third bottle I believe you should ask Amazon to replace by clicking on the Order in your history and then clicking to initiate Return, that will take you to more steps or you can choose Contact Us, especially if your Order says not returnable. Amazon wants to keep you as a customer and your good publicity about them; so they work with you.  I stopped taking Jarrow's reviewer-recommended Time Release tablets (I prefer to my already excess capsules) since learning Stearate fillers are hindering and toxic; so now I'm looking at NAC powder, which tastes bitter, so I dilute with also nasty-taste liquid minerals and take it quickly chased with water & citrus &/or herbal Bitters mouth spray.☺

I opened the bottle and it reeks like egg.  That okay?  Or did it get too hot during shipping?

My bottle smelled like that when I  received it. I've been taking them for two months now with no issues. These have actually helped a lot.

Is this n acetylcysteine, the normal nac? the spelling throws me off with it being spelled "n-acetyl-l-cysteine".

Not sure why it is spelled that way, but it does work for some of my wife's bipolar symptoms. Also reduces some of her lung issuses.
