As easy to fill as any other yard bag. Don't tear in normal use.One caution: They are, of course, biodegradable, that's the point of using them. That means in my experience that if you fill them with wet leaves (raked after or during a storm, for example) and then let the bags sit for several days they are likely to tear when you lift them to move them. If you fill them with wet leaves and get them picked up in a day or two, no issue. But if they cancel the pickup until next week you may find it wise to pull a second bag down over the top and roll the whole thing over, tie the new bag outside the bottom of the old bag, to avoid rupture and mess. Normally you can knot the top and carry them by the knotted top, even if heavy with wet leaves.

These are great. I don’t eat dairy or eggs or meat or fish so the trash isn’t as smelly. I say this because even then it can get moist and start breaking down the bag depending on time and heat. Stuff can rip it too. I mostly compost the veg I have and recycle. It doesn’t rip open but holes appear and makes a certain smell and well can leak. My family has different waste habits and they eat the same way. They are good for us but for others we’ll who knows. Either way these aren’t the type to compost at industrial places they are good for backyard composting so they are more delicate. You get what you buy you can double bag and it’s no issue. I’ve searched and compared and these are the best for your buck if your gonna commit for more than a yearly use of these.

If you're collecting lawn waste and you're environmentally conscious, this is a great product. It's not just biodegradable, it's compostable. They are good quality and strong enough to hold the usual weeds, twigs and debris without tearing. I used to use the paper type, but they get soaked and tear or break if it rains before pick up. This is also a much better solution than using regular plastic lawn bags.

smaller than i expected but that’s probably on me for not comparing their size listed with the size i was currently using. everything else about them is ok, they aren’t revolutionary durability, but they are pretty much just as durable as i expected. just wish they were bigger and cheaper

Bought bc in NYC you have to separate your compost materials and thought this would be perfect. I could put my waste in the bag and feel like I am being environmentally conscious too. After trimming the bamboo and weeds that are in my backyard, we put some in these bags for compost pickup. However, pickup wasn't for a couple days and we placed the bags in a garbage bin. Well when I went to pick up the bags on garbage day they broke and all the twigs and leaves came out. I guess from being in the garbage can the bags started to decompose. So great product and at least I know it works. Sucks that I now have to double clean. BUT... figure small price to pay.

The city made a new law (on of the ones they will enforce cause they can fine a homeowner) about lawn waste and it required this kind of bag for overflow waste. I really didn't have high hopes but it has a nice holder/dispenser and is a solid bag that does not rip. My only concern is how long the shelf life is. I have a large roll of plastic bags that is over 10 years old and like new, not sure these will get used before they degrade and not sure how that helps save the world but my city counsel sure has it figure out <grin>

Ripped

I made the mistake of not reading the instructions completely. it said to use them within 9 months of purchase. i just now found where i had stored them after 11 months. and i wanted to use them to contain my leaves. They are absolutely worthless! i tried to use the first one on the roll and it just tore apart. i had to carefully use the next bag on the roll to double bag the one load of leaf clippings from my lawnmower. i just want to let people know that the bags will break down very quickly!!
