Simple tool, works for lymphatic drainage in legs
I've been having a lot of problems with water retention in my legs and lymphatic drainage (or lack thereof) throughout my body. I've been reading up on lymphatic massage techniques and trying different tools, so I was excited to try this.I have to agree with some other reviewers here that this isn't going to be the best tool for smaller/bonier/more delicate areas of your body. For me, it wasn't the BEST tool for my neck or shoulders and not great for my lower arms. I have smaller stone Gua Sha tools that scrape those skin areas much more effectively.Where this seems to shine are bulky, fleshy parts of my body, PARTICULARLY my lower legs/calves, which is where I'm having most of my problems. The tool is used to "scrape" the skin to help move the lymphatic fluid out of the tissue so that the kidneys and bladder can drain it from the body. You're supposed to use an upward motion, so that you're scraping "up" towards your torso. The curves of the tool make this easy to do, and although I preferred holding the handle with both hands, it can be done with one hand, too.I think to use this on your own back, you'd really need another person doing the massage for you. I couldn't get that to work for self-massage. It's not as effective for me for buttocks, for similar reasons. The tool is made of thick natural wood which has been sanded smoothly and coated/sealed in lacquer. Mine had minimal surface flaws in the lacquer finish that didn't impact the performance overall. This comes with a large velvet drawstring storage bag, and arrives in a cardboard product box, but no instructions for use. The current price of $16 seems fair for the quality.

A very nice high-quality, beechwood massager to be used in lymphatic drainage …
I’d never seen, let alone used a lymphatic massager. This particular tool appears to be made of beechwood, a good solid wood for the task. These are used in what’s called maderotherapy, a wood therapy that is used to help a masseuse or individual help drain the lymphatic system. There are no instructions in the box, however, I was able to find several YouTube videos showing how to use the massager. It can be used as a DIY tool.As far as the quality of this particular lymphatic massager, it’s an excellent one. It’s very solid and I do love beechwood as it’s durable. When using the massager, it’s recommended you use your favorite body oil. It only makes sense as it does glide across the skin much easier with less wear on both the body and the tool. There are all kinds of different claims out there, including the minimization of cellulite. That I won’t comment on, but I do know this is a reasonably priced, high-quality massager.

Works as expected
For everyone that said it does not work because you need someone to use it on you instead of you using it yourself, I disagree. I have been getting ready for a 5k so I have been really sore and tight, I knew this would be helpful in helping loosen up the built-up lactic acid. I was right, it works so well. I start with my hips, rear and go down my legs and feel amazing relief in about 10-15 minutes of using it.I make sure I take a long hot bath with Epson salt before using it and it seems to work so much better then when I didn't take a bath. I also apply massage oil to make it much easier to maneuver around my body.I know this would be ideal if I had someone doing it for me but I enjoy it without having someone to assist me with it just as much.

Clever tool
I have used Gua Sha tools on my face , but did not realize that they come in body massage size , too. It works very well because the unusual shape has a curve somewhere that will fit the curve of your body perfectly. I watched a video on how to use it, but really it massages just like the small facial tools. The amount of pressure is up to you. I tend to be fairly gentle, as I don't want bruising, just improved circulation and relaxing muscles. This tool works very well. It is solid wood, smooth with no sharp edges. This even comes with a presentation bag and would be an unusual and thoughtful gift.

It hurt to use it
I was in an auto accident 22 years ago, my knees hit the dashboard after the seatbelt broke from the car frame. This impact left me with hard calcium deposits under my knees. I got this gua sha to see if it would help get rid of those deposits. I tried to use it on those areas several times but it just hurt. I did you it on my calvesand thighs and that felt good but really wanted it for my knees. The gua sha is made of a nice sturdy beech wood and did glide over the skin real well. I wanted to use lotion but was afraid to use anything because I didnt want to possibly ruin the finish on the gua sha. Honestly, I really wasnt sure how to use it because it didnt come with any type of instructions so I had to google it.I like the concept of this huge gua sha but feel that it should be made from a stone or a plastic so that it could be used in the shower or tub or in conjunction with your favorite lotion. At the time of this review this wooden gua sha was $18.99 which I find acceptable for this tool due to the thickness and finish of the wood.

Nice quality
This is really well made. I like that it's solid wood. It is finished smooth without having rough spots or splinters. I'm still learning and practicing various ways to use it. There's so much information online even example videos. I like and would recommend it! Glad to have it added to my massaging tools.
