A phenomenal conclusion to an epic love story!
A midnight day is only enjoyed around the summer solstice and is a rare and beautiful sight. MIDNIGHT DAYS, the romance, is just as rare and beautiful as its natural equivalent. It is also the concluding novel of the duo dark romance, WHITE NIGHTS, by the writing team of Anna Zaires and Charmaine Pauls. And like most things rare or beautiful, Kate and Alex go through some terribly difficult trials that ultimately build a stunningly magnificent love relationship out of an initial chemistry that knew no limitations. The prose is enticing, descriptive, and uses dual narration masterfully to give readers insight into the angst and feelings behind every decision, every act, every epic scene between Kate and Alex. With non-stop action interspersed with erotic scenes, MIDNIGHT DAYS is for mature readers who love their romances to be fast-paced, swoony, and a little bit dark. Readers can’t help but get caught up in the complex and compelling plotlines and become invested in characters so multifaceted and fascinating, it becomes difficult to answer the call of reality when it intrudes. I volunteered to read an early copy of MIDNIGHT DAYS, and this is my voluntary 5+STAR review. If you like your romance on the dark side, with worthy characters and twisty plots, then this should be your next romance purchase! Happy pages! 😉

Not for long
Alex decided for them to move to Russia so they can have more protection. Kate was a prisoner in a beautiful cage. She no longer felt like herself. He at times would attempt to do something just to appease her. Not paying attention enough to realize it meant nothing to her. He managed everything in her life. He was obsessed and passive.Alex was sure what he was doing was protecting her at all cost. Still justifying what he was doing was for her best interest. Once he realized the damaged he has caused, it was too late. But, when everything start unraveling, Kate had a opportunity to get her life back. This book was too long the entire story could've been in one book. The POV for each chapter was almost exactly like the previous chapter. In all, it was a good story.

It's a great book and full of twists and turns..
The book is written very well. Its about the attack on Alex and Kate so they must go to Russia... This is not a happy time especially for Kate. The overly protective and controlling behavior of Alex now has taken a dark turn. He's not doing it to hurt her but she's trapped.. There's a lot going on and to be honest it could have been shorter. However I recommend it highly and the ending is a great one!

Captivating
This is the second half of Katie and Alex's story. It's dark, dangerous and addictive. Intense and filled with passion, all the feels. Great characters is an understatement. I loved this 2 book story.

Ten Star Duet Conclusion
Midnight Days is the suspenseful and exciting finale in the White Nights Duet by the phenomenal writing duo of Anna Zaires and Charmaine Pauls. The book completes the dark romance between Kate and Alex which is filled with unexpected twists, mafia violence, strong emotions, and sizzling passion. I highly recommend this well written and addictive novel and duet.I have received a free copy of this ARC book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Dark "light" or where has the darkness gone?
This is book 2 of the White Nights duet, the second collaboration between Anna Zaires and Charmaine Pauls after Darker Than Love. At 400 pages it is quite long, and, unfortunately I felt there was a bit of a drag in the middle, before the story picks up speed again towards the final resolution. After he has thwarted the attempt to rob (abduct) Kate, Alex is thru playing the civilized boyfriend and whisks her away to his St. Petersburg palace, which is kind of a fortress, from where there is no escape. While Kate is whiling away her days conversing with the cook, treating Alex’s men for minor injuries and binge-watching episodes of Downton Abbey, Alex spends most of his days in his office working. He is trying to line up a deal to develop small nuclear plants and at the same time he is trying to find out who is after him and why…Kate meanwhile feels completely shut out (not without reason) and helpless in view of the asymmetrical power dynamic between herself and Alex. Alex claims he is keeping her in the dark in order to protect her, mostly from the darker side of his business, but that only helps to make Kate’s anxiety worse. Although Alex is very solicitous of Kate’s comfort, she is in fact his prisoner. This puts a lot of strain on their relationship, and they mostly only connect on a physical level. Admittedly, the sex is pretty hot and involves some (light) kink. In the end their failure to properly communicate leads to exactly the situation Alex was trying to avoid by keeping Kate in the dark.Alex is oftentimes very short and dismissive with his men (who are loyal to him), which made him appear tyrannical rather than strong. He is also constantly questioning himself about his treatment of Kate, which undercut his dark anti-hero image further. No comparison to how unapologetic Julian was with regard to Nora and also about his business as an international arms dealer, whereas Alex is portrayed as this fair-minded business man, who wants to help people to have clean energy and not make a big profit (give me a break!). Maybe I have just become tired of the benevolent billionaire trope (because it’s so fantastical and unrealistic – dragons are more believable).Having two authors can sometimes be tricky, over-all I felt that the two narrative voices of Anna Zaires and Charmaine Pauls meshed rather well. But there was this one instance, towards the end, after a secret from Alex’s past (and his refusal to communicate with Kate) almost gets both of them killed and Kate is injured. He goes all remorseful and tragic, and the implication is that he will let her go after what she has suffered because of him. Then cut and new chapter: there is no more talk of setting her free (or even offering it); I found this transition, this lack of internal coherence quite jarring.Undoubtedly an exciting and sexy read with enough dark vibes to be tantalizing, so 4 solid stars. I of course understand the commercial pressures to appeal to a more “mainstream” audience, and these “darkness light” books seem to be doing better (judging by the number of favorable reviews), but I really miss the intensity, the unapologetic darkness which characterize earlier stories of both authors. For this one I can hardly even give a TW…

Great!!
What a great conclusion to Kate and Alex’s story. Midnight Days starts off immediately from the ending of White Nights so no missing storyline. Lots, lots, lots of angst and inner turmoil in this segment! Really enjoyed Alex’s point of view for more perspective on his interactions with Kate. Overall, great duology and ends nice and resolved. Wish there was a little more detail of the books resolution rather than the last 10 minutes of the book but over a great read. Definitely recommend!!
