These are very good, like most of the Ghirardelli squares. Not overly sweet, which is perfect for dark chocolate. I'm very happy they're expanding the dark chocolate square options as I'm not much for milk chocolate. The darker, the better! ;) These are a nice balance between extremely dark & sweet enough for a little change of pace when I'm craving something other than straight dark chocolate. I can't tell there's "sea salt" in them, but I'm not sure I'd want to. Other than high end hand made chocolates with a few grains of sea salt on top, I don't really get the whole "salt in chocolate" trend. Yes, it works for chocolate covered pretzels, but that's because there's a pretzel in there. Overall, these are wonderful. Edit 3/13/14 I have these on "subscribe & save" but am putting them off for the time being. They're up almost $4 since I got them 3 months ago. That's INSANE! I'll do without, thank you!

These were ordered by mistake and Amazon's great Customer Service Department helped me remedy it. So as long as they're here, I thought, I'd taste one square 'to make sure they're okay' so I could give the rest as gifts since I don't normally eat rich treats. Big mistake. They are SO good! First you get the rich chocolate 'hit' you'd expect from Ghirardelli. Then the sea salt kicks in and wakes up your taste buds even more. By then, the gooey caramel is swirling around your mouth to give a delightful textural variance. Like I said, don't get these ;-).

This is one of the best combinations of flavors I've tried! Admittedly, I'm more of a milk chocolate lover. But my husband has been extoling the virtues of dark chocolate so I started experimenting. We're Ghirardelli fans as it is, but this flavor is OUR favorite. I have to give "kudos" to Amazon for the care they take in packaging these items. It is packed in a box, within insulation of some sort, and with an added bag of ...something else... that obviously kept the chocolate cool. It is 102° in the shade today--and when I unpacked the carton and opened one of the pouches to sneak a bite.... Perfect!

I love this particular combo and have a hard time finding them locally, so I thought I'd give Amazon a search. They came quickly and are fine so far (of course I've not opened all packages and candies yet), however there is just 3 months between today and the day these candies expire. I do not anticipate eating all four bags in under 3 months, which means some may well go to waste unless I give some away. I seem to have had unusually good luck purchasing items on Amazon with plenty of time on expiration, but that streak has ended. Disappointed.
