Burghaus never disappoints. I've tried a few base layers, as they are the most important part of a layering system.If you don't get the base layer right, none of the layers on top of it will be fully effective, no matter how top end they might be.It's very comfortable and does It's main job of regulating moisture/temperature, very well.Even when running cold (hiking with only a base layer, plus hard shell on top) on a freezing winters day hike in the lake district, I wasn't uncomfortable at any point. I've yet to buy a Burghaus product that I didn't love and this is no exception.

This long sleeved T-shirt by Berghaus is designed (I believe) to be worn as a base layer. The fabric is quite thin and shiny, but it is made to have other items of clothing worn over the top of it. I ordered a large which is for up to 38” chests. It fits me well. If anything, the sleeves are a touch too short, but I have very long arms and legs. Another thing to note is that the cuffs are very tight, so don’t expect to be able to pull the sleeves up to your elbows, as I sometimes do with long sleeved t-shirts. It’s hard to be able to comment further on its usefulness until it is worn out in the wild. My plan for this top is to use it when camping and perhaps to wear it as bedclothes if the nights get cold. It definitely feels comfortable enough to be able to wear it is such a scenario. Looks wise, it’s nothing special. It is black and long sleeved, with the Berghaus logo on it. It’s not supposed to be a fashion item. Instead, it is rather utilitarian in looks. breathable walking top good summer base layer

As an active family that participate in extreme sports, we have tried many varieties of moisture wicking tees. This, though long sleeve is a thin micro-mesh like material, which is still very good quality to withstand our type of very rugged abuse whilst we lead climb from rough overhanging terrain.We've bought a few things from the Berghaus line as it's solid quality and build to last. We use the bags to carry our ropes, carribiners, climbing gear and shoes and have done so for a good few years without it showing any signs of wear...signs of dirt and muck are everywhere on the other hand, which gives an idea of how poorly we treat it.The large size fits well, there's a little bit of give in the fabric which I like as it reduces the chance of shrinking uncomfortably when washed regularly. I like that the fabric allows moisture to wick away to my outer layers when I wear this as a base layer, and yet it provides unrestricted movement - which is crucial in our line of sports. Even though it is entirely made of manmade fabric (polyester), it still remains very breathable, comfortable and does not stick to my skin. I would describe it as a standard fit (not fitted, or shaped), which gives me the room I need to lunge, jump and stretch with ease.Overall another fantastic bit of sports gear for an active outdoorsman.
