Lucid® 3" Lavender Memory Foam Mattress Topper – CertiPUR-US®, Twin XL

I purchased the queen sized lavender 3" topper for reference. I bought this item to go on top of our more firm memory foam camper mattress. It is very soft and if it is placed on a hard mattress you may be able to feel the harder mattress below over time, but this topper is still incredible. I also used this on my everyday sleeping mattress and it was a dream! So, I am going to buy another one for my room now. DO NOT force the topper open, let it expand on its own time. If you force it open before it starts to fluff up you may damage the topper, rips in the seams etc.. Mine took about 45 minutes to fluff up before I laid it flat. I put it on my bed and walked away and came back to the room about 45 minutes later and it looked fluffed up. That's when I laid it flat and I let it lay out on my bed all day, that night, and the next day before sleeping on it as well. I used it on my bed for one night before I moved it from inside my house to my camper and put it on the bed, put a mattress protector over it and then put my regular sheets on the bed. I moved it into my camper and put it on my memory foam mattress that is rather firm. This topper isn't very dense so you will pretty much feel the softness immediately when you lay down on it and your body will make an impression. I am 130#'s and my husband is 180#'s, we both slept very well on it during the month we used it out on our adventures. My husband absolutely loves this topper and wants another one for our bedroom. I had a traumatic back injury 10 years ago and I also agree to how comfortable this topper can make your bed. I did feel that after about 8 hours of laying on it during the night (I am a side sleeper) I could feel the mattress below it, but I also think this is because we have an old firm memory foam mattress in our camper. I knew when I purchased it that it wouldn't alleviate that, but I was hoping it would help make it more comfortable and I was right! When I used it in my bedroom I didn't feel the mattress below and I slept in for the first time in years! I'm so happy with my purchase that I am purchasing a second one! PROS: I really like the smell of the topper, it is pretty strong when you first open it, but it goes away within a couple of hours. Now I only smell it if my face is by the topper and it is a very pleasant smell. It helps firmer mattresses become softer and more comfortable. It is a dream on my bedroom mattress that is a hybrid (springs and memory foam on top). It is light weight and I can move it around to different beds if I want by myself. It is exactly the size of my queen mattresses, the same thickness all over, and I didn't have any issues with it moving around and I think this is because I put my mattress protector over it and then my sheets. CONS: The wait for it to be useable is hard because I am an impatient person. It did move around on the bed until I put it under my mattress protector. The smell is pretty strong when you first open the box, but it dissipates in a few hours time. Not sure if this is 100% the toppers fault, but I feel like it makes me sleep hotter during the night and I like to sleep on the cooler side. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone that is looking to add some extra comfort to their mattress whether it is new or used.

I never share pictures with a review, but I want people to know this is a legit review from an actual consumer who is not being paid to write this or try the product. I bought a new mattress over a year ago, and made the mistake of buying it too firm. I spent the last 6 months reading too many reviews and shopping too many deals trying to find the “perfect” mattress topper to provide a cheaper solution to my back pain than coughing up the money for a new mattress. I had actually picked out a different brand, but that one was sold out until the second week of September, Amazon suggested Lucid, which ended up being cheaper. I spot checked around, liked how easy and professional their home webpage was, and decided no more review reading- buy the dang thing already. I’ve had some of the best sleep of my life the last 2 days. And I usually struggle with bad insomnia, waking up around 3am every night and struggling to get comfortable to fall back to sleep. Allow the topper to lay flat after taking out of package for at least 12 hours. Mine did not smell at all, it has a faint lavender scent but no chemical gasoline. It fit my full size bed perfectly, though you may need to have deeper pocket sheets if your mattress is already deep. I went with the 3 inch, I don’t feel like I’m sinking and unable to get up, I don’t wake up with it enclosed around me. As far as how much it’s trapping heat, it’s a little too early for me to tell but will update this review later if it changes. As of now, I have not had any issues with it trapping heat and making me sweat. I’m in love with this mattress topper, my bed room has become my favorite room in the house! I want to lounge on my bed all day!

I got this mattress topper because I like sleeping on my side and my mattress was not supportive enough, so my back would hurt in the morning. This topper changed the game for me. It's squishy enough that you sink into it by firm enough that it still offers support. I will say that after a couple weeks it will start molding to your body and become a little bit flatter as it's memory foam, however if you rotate the topper every couple times you wash your sheets, it let's the part that molds to your body go back to normal. (I try to wash every week or every other week) Also I'm a huge lavender person and after a month of usage you can't smell it outside of all the sheets (which is expected) but when the bed is stripped you still get a good whiff of lavender which I am happy about. Overall, would recommend getting this mattress topper. UPDATE!! I've had this mattress topper for well over a year now and it's still holding up!! When I forget to rotate it when I wash my sheets it isn't as comfy but still gets the job done. I would still recommend this item.

I wondered if I'd like the lavender odor, and I wonder no more. It's one of the worst things ever. When I first opened it, this overpowering stench of lavender attacked me and I had an instant sore throat, burning eyes, and headache. It's supposed to sit for 48 hours to decompress fully, but the only place to do that is in my bedroom. I left it on my mattress with the window open and fan on, then got the heck out of there. A little later, I was outside and could smell it throughout my backyard due to the open window...on the 2nd floor. Ten hours later, the smell level remained high but I had to go to bed. The topper looked fully expanded, so I wrapped it in the cover it came with, put a 1 inch thick cloth mattress pad on it, a sheet, and then a comforter. The smell dropped in the room so I thought it would be okay. Nope. The smell escaped all of that. I slept with the window open right next to my bed (50 degrees that night) and the fan blowing on me (good thing I have warm dogs). I've had to do that every night for the past 3 days. I hope it fades soon. On the plus side, this topper is incredibly comfortable. I usually wake up a few times per night as I toss and turn, but I've slept the night through each time with this topper. I do sink into it quite a bit, so it's a little like sleeping in a hotdog bun, but it's a very comfy bun. I'm going to really love this when the smell fades. I took one star away for the stench.

Last year, we replaced our seriously worn-out pillow top inner spring mattress with a firm memory foam mattress. We didn’t go high end, as our budget was under $750, but the salesman swore the one be bought was comparable. I thought it would solve my sleep problems, but nope. It made them worse. I had so much trouble getting comfortable, my hips and shoulders hurt, and my husband snored and tossed all night. It got so bad that I resorted to sleeping on the couch. It seemed the only time I ever slept well was in a nice hotel, so I set out to turn my bed into a 5-star hotel bed on a budget. I started off buying a down alternative comforter-style topper for around $70, and while nice, it didn’t do the trick well enough. Within 15 minutes of laying down, I was back to being uncomfortable. I decided to add a soft memory foam topper as well and see if that would do the trick. There are a LOT of memory foam toppers to choose from, and I’m so glad I chose this one after reading reviews. It came vacuum sealed, but once unpacked, it was at full size with no fold wrinkles in about 5 hours. Do NOT force unfolding. It will do it on its own. Size-wise, it matched up perfectly with my mattress. The lavender scent is pleasant and not artificial. It smells exactly like lavender essential oil and gives the room an added “spa” ambiance. I know that will fade over time, but for the same price as one without it, why not enjoy the scent for a couple months? I’ve sandwiched it between the mattress and the down alternative topper, and I NOW HAVE A 5-STAR HOTEL BED AT HOME! The past couple of nights have been the best sleep I’ve had in years. I climb into bed (literally, I’ve added 4 or so inches to my mattress height) and begin to slowly sink until I feel softly supported all over. I don’t remember much after that because I’m actually sleeping. I haven’t had a back spasm since I started sleeping on it, either. I have a feeling this pad will last a while. It’s well-made, perfect density, and simply nice. If you want a hotel bed, get this. Get an inexpensive down alternative topper to go over it, and celebrate the $4000 savings.

This mattress topper is way better than I expected. I bought a mattress/box spring combo not long ago, and it's on the firm side. After about a month, it started hurting my back really bad. If i would roll over on my side, my back would hurt. If I would lay on my stomach, my back would hurt. If I would lay on my back, my back would hurt. I would toss and turn all night long and then my back would be sore for about an hour after getting out of bed in the morning. I was going to buy a whole new mattress, but my girlfriend suggested just buying a memory foam topper and seeing if that would work (and save money). We've only had it for a day, but it is amazing. I can lay down on it and my back doesn't hurt at all. It's so soft and comfortable. And the lavender scent is nice. It's like a soapy lavender smell. It's pretty strong right away, but it's already started to fade a little bit in a day (or i'm just getting used to it). So if you're afraid of the smell being too strong or not liking it, I wouldn't worry too much because it probably won't last long any way. Get whichever is cheaper - the lavender or non-lavender. UPDATE: The funny thing is that while it made MY back pain go away, my girlfriend started getting back pain for the first time after sleeping on this for one night. She was fine on the firm mattress we had before getting the topper. The firm mattress was killing me though, and now I'm fine, and her back hurts with the topper. I'm not sure if the difference we experience is due to our sizes. I'm 6'1" and weigh 205 lbs. She's 5'1" and weighs 103lbs. At first I thought maybe the larger you are, the more your pressure points are relieved. But I doubt size has any thing to do with it. Another theory I thought is maybe it has to do with how your back is aligned. Some people might do worse on memory foam if a firm mattress kept their back aligned well. That doesn't make much sense to me either though. Maybe the vast difference between our firm mattress and soft topper has caused her back to hurt momentarily. I'll try to remember to update this again if her back pain goes away after a week or two. For now I'm leaving this a 5 star. Because we bought it for a problem that I had, and it completely made my problem go away.

7 MONTH UPDATE (8/30/17): THIS TOPPER ACCUMULATES HEAT WHICH IS THE ONE DRAWBACK. STILL RATING THIS 5 STARS. HAS NOT LOST ONE CM OF SPRING. NO DISCERNIBLE LAVENDER SMELL LEFT. SLEEPING LIKE A BABY STILL. This mattress topper was purchased as a last ditch attempt at saving my king mattress from being hauled to a dumpster and laying out $1600 on a new one. My spouse and I love this and are very happy we rolled the dice and took a chance on something that you really can't test first. The two biggest concerns going in were: does it smell bad/strong and how comfy is it going to be? Right out of the box it smelled strong, I was really worried that I was going to be nauseated and end up throwing it away. Happily one month into owning this I am happy to say that the lavender is mild and pleasing. We opened the box and let it breathe and expand for 48 hours before putting it in the bedroom. Comfort level: I close my eyes and honestly can not tell that we are not sleeping on the tempur-flex or the ultra plush pillowtop that was on the shopping list. It is soft and I sink into it but it has just enough density to support my extremely bad back, neck and hips. There is ONE downfall/drawback that I will mention and it is temperature. I sleep cold, for some reason I get in bed and become an ice cube and need a sleeping bag to form a little cocoon around me trapping in heat. This topper generates heat and does not seem to disperse it well. So I am adjusting my blankets and position to account for the "hot spots" that are arising occasionally. I did not deduct a star from my rating because this is a personal preference, not product quality issue. If you are prone to night sweats this may not be the best choice. I took off the winter fleece sheets and put on lighter cotton and it seemed to reduce the issue for me. Overall I would purchase this again and can recommend it as a good value to others. My sleep quality has improved tremendously.

My husband and I have mixed feelings on this mattress topper. This is gonna be a long one, so buckle up. Whatever about this is supposed to be lavender other than the color doesn’t exist, so just dismiss that bit of it. Our mattress was way too firm and we were having issues with our hips and shoulders because of it. We went with the 3 inch because we figured it would be a decent balance of softness, but not too soft. This topper is quite soft and is not nearly as supportive now as it was when we got it about three months ago. It has helped with our pain, but it’s not holding up as well as we would like. We have a queen size mattress, and this topper is about 4 inches too short for it. It seems that maybe this topper was measured on an RV queen mattress. That said it’s also not quite wide enough. If it’s lined up with one edge of the bed it’s not lined up with the other. The issue with the length is really frustrating because we’re both taller people. I’m 5’7” and he’s 6’3”. When our heads are on our pillows, our feet stick over the end of the mattress topper. The topper is starting to pill some just from normal use, and there is a very pronounced ridge in the middle of the topper, because we don’t tend to sleep in the middle of the bed. The ridge is so pronounced that it makes it hard for us to spoon each other. Now granted, I’m sure some of that ridge is the mattress underneath as well because it is also foam, but it’s definitely gotten worse since we’ve put the topper on. I find myself having more issues with my lower back than I did before we got this topper. The topper makes it hard to roll over or to scoot if you’re sitting up in bed. A few positive words about it: I’ve not noticed the bed being any hotter, I’ve not noticed it being any cooler either. It didn’t have a weird smell when we unwrapped it, but it also didn’t have the lavender smell that’s advertised. I don’t notice that it holds onto any sweat odor or anything like some mattress toppers may. It inflated just fine when we unrolled it and well within the amount of time suggested. TLDR; if you are a single person who wants a VERY soft mattress topper that doesn’t have a strong odor or you’re in a pinch, this will work just fine. I don’t suggest this for long-term use as it hasn’t held up well over the last three months.

Mi colchón está sumido porque lo uso más que lo que uso mis zapatos y pues necesitaba algo bueno, bonito y barato para arreglarlo porque me rehuso a comprar un colchón nuevo cuando el que tengo tiene menos de 2 años. Entonces, leí que estos sobrecamas son una solución ideal para mí aguado problema. Tan solo puedo decir que mis vértebras y mi nervio ciático agradecen que haya tomado esa decisión. El paquete que llega es algo pesado (unos 5 kilos) pero no muy grande ya que viene comprimido. Viene con una herramienta especial para poder sacarlo del plástico y no romperlo. El empaque dice que tarda entre 1 y 2 días en expandirse el topper, pero si vivies en alguna región elevada (como el valle de México) tarda a lo mucho 3 horas en expandirse por completo. Ya expandido, es tan fácil como ponerlo encima de tu viejo y demacrado colchón para darle vida nueva. Es muy suave y se amolda a tu cuerpo. Una vez que te levantas, regresa a la normalidad como si nada hubiera pasado. Huele muy rico a lavanda (si es que compraste esa versión) aunque dejas de detectar el olor después de varios días a menos que pegues la nariz a la cama. No sé calienta y tampoco se mueve. Es perfecto, aunque, si fuera a verle algo negativo, es que, dependiendo de que tan alto lo compres (7.5 cm en mi caso) pueda que tangas dificultad para acomodarle las sábanas por el incremento de altura. La otra cosa es que recomiendo ponerle un cobre colchón encima ya que veo muy complicado poder lavarlo. Fuera de eso, tu linda columna te va a agradecer la compra.

I absolutely love the Lucid 3-inch foam mattress pad I recently purchased. It's incredibly comfortable and has improved the quality of my sleep. I don't know how I managed without the memory foam topper. Sublime comfort and so needed for my body now that I'm in my 70's and have back discomfort. Highly recommended.
