Do I need to strip the wire insulation before inserting it?

No, please do not strip the wire. Simply insert your 20 AWG wire with the plastic coating intact. When you clamp the cap down with pliers, the internal blades cut through the insulation to contact the copper core automatically.

Do these come with wires attached?

No, these are terminals only. You use your own 22-20 AWG wire to create custom length extensions, eliminating the mess of pre-made fixed cables.

Why do I need pliers? Can't I just snap it shut with my fingers?

Pliers are required. The connector is designed to bite firmly into both the wire and the LED strip to ensure a stable 5A connection. Finger pressure is typically not enough to force the piercing blades through the insulation completely.

Will this work with thin 22 AWG wire?

We recommend 20 AWG wire for the most reliable performance. While 22 AWG is close, it is thinner and might not make as solid contact with the piercing blades, potentially leading to loose connections. For a safe 5A load, 20 AWG is the optimal choice.

Can I use these for waterproof strips?

Yes, they fit IP65 silicone-coated strips. However, you must peel off the silicone coating from the copper contact pad area of the strip before inserting it. The connector needs direct access to the copper pads on the PCB.
