The marolex i received was marked "industry ergo 2000 alka", with an amazon sticker next to it "ergo 2000 acid". how can i tell what i have?

If your pump sprayer is blue and white, it’s ALKA, if it’s black and white it’s ACID. Both are called Ergo.

Can this sprayer be used with brake buster or any type of wheel/rim cleaner? Also can the foam edition be used with wheel cleaner also?

No. This one cannot produce form. You don't own foam edition. I use different product to produce form for brake buster.

Can i use muriatic acid in this sprayer?

I doubt it, muriatic is a strong acid. My Industry 2000 only lasted 1 month using a 20% vinegar mix which is a mild acid. I've tried a bunch for vinegar, this is the best I've found so far: These lasted about 7 months and $37: iK Multi PRO 2

Anyone have trouble keeping the hose attached to the nipple on the underside of the top? Any permanent solution?

I have not had any problems with my hose staying attached. You might want to contact them directly or return it for another one.
