Entertaining!!!
The new War Gate genre is really interesting, and this author wrote a rather good book. If you like action, and Sci-Fi, then this book is for you. He was very accurate about Panama, and it is cool to know that he served. I know he was a Marine, and I was Army, but we are Brothers in Arms. I just wonder if he knows who us Moatengators were? Now most people think what he about, how the military is turning out is pure fiction, but unfortunately it all becoming all to real, because I see it almost everyday. I really loved the book, but the one thing that threw me was, how come the staff protected Beck, and not Gabriel, because he was holding the staff, the same as Beck, when blasted with the same type of weapon. Other than that, it was a real page turner, and I would recommend it to anyone.

A story worthy of the telling.
I was not expecting what the story of Ragnar Beck turned out to be, but it was fantastically told and well constructed. The characters are lifelike and easy to attach to. Great novel!

Pleasantly Surprised
I don't always like Mr. Anspach's books but I keep trying them to find one I do like and this was one. Gods who continue to mess with the lives of mortals even as the gods war among themselves. The book is about becoming the ultimate warrior and how some humans are very good at becoming ultimate warriors and how they are the handymen of the warring gods. They are manipulated to be willing warriors in the gods wars and some are recalled often such as Beck is. It's an unusual story and well worth reading.

Military science fiction at its Best
I was unaware of this book until now. I have no idea how I missed a book this great. An American soldier finds himself in a combination of the Elysium Fields and Valhalla with a dash of Starship Troopers thrown in after dying in battle. That's the beginning of the story and it gets better from there. The story is first rate, the characters are interesting and well written, and the action and plot twists are all fantastic.I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Great story, needs a sequel or three.
Separate? Story from the author’s main book series. Very creative spin on the afterlife. I did appreciate that this story actually has an end - NOT left on a cliffhanger like many Author’s do. However it is set up for a sequel or even a series. I’ve enjoyed most of the works by the Authors and this one does not disappoint.

Another New Favorite from Anspach and Spears
I loved this one-I"ve read everything this great writing team has conjured from the Well and I continually embrace the Churn! I am the son of a warrior and I love how this team continues to embrace and honor the American soldier and the deeply rooted values of those who serve; at once flawed and decidedly patriotic- Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage-its in everything they write.

Amazing read. A solid original story that stands on its own
The end isn’t the end…apparently. Warriors who die a death in battle against impossible odds shine brighter when their souls leave their bodies. These are the ones chosen to become part of the ranks of Mars, god of war. But they’ll have to prove themselves and that’s what this book is about. Ragnar Beck checks off the boxes, but does he have what it takes to become one of Mars’ Ultimates? I enjoyed this book from start to finish.

A LITTLE DISAPPOINTING
Very imaginative plot, and well written. But I have seen this author do better. It was just too much exaggeration to be well-rounded.I am a fan of the author so I look forward to his next book.
