Cliff Keen Tornado Headgear -Black/Purple/Black

Perfect for my youth wrestler.
This headgear is miles better than the crappy ones we were issued on high school wrestling in the 90s. I got this for my 4th grade wrestler, and it's top notch. Lightweight and sturdy, with good ventilation and ear openings that allow your wrestler to hear clearly. This headgear will also easily adjust, so that we can size it up as my son grows, probably all the way through high school, if he keeps wrestling. If I could go back in time and Marty McFly myself a pair of these in 1992, I totally would.

Comfortably and cleanliness.
This headgear is pretty comfortable and stays in place while I roll rounds in Jiu Jitsu. I hadn’t worn any headgear for about two years and developed cauliflower ear and it is extremely sensitive especially after having it drained with a needle. But this headgear really protects my ears, is comfortable and I am able to hear my coach and training partners while rolling. The one complaint I have is the cloth straps absorb a lot of sweat( and can smell) and is a little more complicated to clean than vinyl straps would be. I had to unweave the straps and throw them into the washer( hang to air dry after )then wipe down the styrofoam and plastic padding with a Clorox wipe. It took a little bit to figure out how to reweave it properly and get it fitting to my head again but once I got that down it was easy to dissemble, clean and reassemble. There might be an easier way to clean them but I am always considerate to my training partners and how I smell and I also like to ensure my equipment is clean.

One size fits... a baby. I regret this purchase already.
The 2 rear straps are less than 3 inches long when fully adjusted to accommodate a head. A normal adult sized head is large than this. Like other reviewer images have shown, the size is way too small for adults or teens even due to these two tiny straps. I have McGyvered the two short straps into one long strap, but now I'm missing the function one strap. It fits snugly and seems like it'll perform its function. The ear holes may be a bit smaller in diameter than I prefer, but fits and when all straps are properly tight, the headgear fits nicely.

I bought it for no-gi submission grappling
I have a wrestler background years back and started no-gi jiu jitsu a few weeks ago. A few triangles later I decided I really need headgear.Pros:1) VERY light. As light as the cheapie foam ones we used in HS.2) VERY comfortable. I've had the hardshell "turtle shell cups" and the cheapie foam ones. This combines the comfort of the foam ones (perhaps even better because this foam is squishier) with the protection of the hardshells. Slippage has been minimal for me, certainly less than the cheapie foams and a little less than the classic turtleshell cups. It's just a grippier foam that sticks to your head and it has more straps than a cheap foamie one. The foam chin strap is a nice touch.3) Hearing is excellent. Don't really have any difference between wearing it and not wearing it.4) Safe for my practice mate. It's a hardshell around the ears so it's protective, but it's not like any other hardshell I've used. It gives just enough when you push on it. So it's good for my partner and it's good for me cuz then you don't get the hardshell crushing your head or ear in the situations when it slips a little.5) Doesn't look horrible. Not like it's going to get you the ladeeyz (or boyz, whatever), but it's better than most. I got the all black one.Cons:1) Price. Yeah, it's definitely pricey. But yes, I do feel it's a world apart from lower level headgear and I'm glad I splurged. Also, I know someone mentioned that it gives more of a "handle" for people to grab and submit, but it hasn't been an issue for me at all. I'm a wrestler who shoots in and still use my head to help pivot the opponent and so I still get caught in a jillion guillotines and headlocks and triangles or whathaveyou. I've been able to slip out of them not much worse than without it. Just my personal experience.Overall: 9/10. I would prefer an extra strap running perpendicular to the other straps so it can protect my hair from getting caught even more than it already does, but that's a minor issue a lot of grapplers won't have (I have relatively long "fobby Asian-style hair).

Superior
My concern was whether it would fit my 6 yo. Absolutely no problems. Wide sizing range, will grow with him. Excellent design was never in question...comfortable, durable, great protection, one of the only head gear I see on the kids (I coach) that doesn't slip under any circumstances. It is expensive, but an extremely quality product that seems destined to last many seasons. My extra thumbs up goes to the ridiculous color selection. Amazing colors and three way custom combinations. Best looking head gear on the mat. The one we got in Vegas Gold/Dark Green/Vegas Gold is barely believable...extremely tight.

These'll likely do the job
I'm happy with these. I use it for jiu-jitsu to avoid cauliflower ear. The space around the ears means I can actually hear just fine when I have them on. Overall, they're quite comfortable. My only gripe is that it can sometimes come loose or shift. This doesn't happen to me too often, but when it does, it's really annoying. I've used these for over three months now. They probably get 1-2 hours of use a week. Wear is otherwise good. These work well enough that if I had to make the purchase again, I'd probably just get these.

Well though and well made design
Both my son's 14 and 11 wrestle And I went through two other popular options before I settled for this product. it is well made with ample soft sturdy cushions around the year which also support and protect the sides of the head in the event of an impact. very easy to clean due to the non porous material. the strap sets cover the back top and front of the head creating an almost non slip fit like no other brand. Asic has a similar design. excellent purchase

Very comfortable ear guard.
I always hated sparring with ear guards but after my first cauliflower ear at 44 and multiple attempts to drain it, I knew I had to look for one. My old one was never comfortable and you couldn’t hear a thing. This one is totally different. You can hear and it doesn’t get too hot thanks to the ventilation slots. Sits very comfortably and gives you plenty of protection. Definitely worth a try.

Comfortable for girlies but I guess men too.
A bit bulky for your partner but the most comfortable headgear I've ever tried. Lasts a while as well, despite soft surfaces... being soft. My third one in four years.

but if i can still roll and not have wrastlin ears thats good.
I use it whenever my ear starts to get tendy for bjj so I can still roll. It can be moved slightly when someone is gooning you, but if i can still roll and not have wrastlin ears thats good.
