Party Girl

An indie classic that defines the work ethic, social ethos, and fashion of a sub-generation
This movie is one of the greatest, well thought out, most entertaining, perfectly acted pieces of art in the universe. It beautifully and masterfully clocks being young, living in New York, feeling hopeless, trying to grow up, loving art and fashion… all of these facets of life. Watch it over and over. I do.

One of the Best Indie Movies
This is the best indie movie from the 90’s. Parker Pusey is magnificent as the crazy high fashion club girl that we all knew then. It takes me back to my 20’s when I would have been in the club with her. The dialogue is so on point and the music is the essence of 90’s techno. I highly recommend this movie for anyone. Everyone can enjoy this film.

Begging for a modern release
five stars for the movie, but the DVD releases leave a lot to be desired. First off, do not buy the 1995 edition. The encoding on that disc is on par with the VHS or Laserdisc versions (no exaggeration). I also have the 2002 DVD and the quality is much improved, to the point that it's watchable. I have to assume this is the same encoding that is on the 2003 DVD, though I can't say for sure. It's still not great, and not even close to modern DVD release quality. Also, the 2002 DVD claims to have a director commentary and "previews and trailers" on the back of the case, but that is absent on the disc.No widescreen version of this exists anywhere either, which is a real shame. This film is begging for a new release, either on anamorphic DVD or (with any luck) Blu-Ray.

Hey, Hey, Hello.... to great fun
Total cool tripe. Loved it! Parker Posey is my kinda Holly Golightly. Very 90s. Totally fun. I wish I'd known about this sooner. Definitely worth the $2.99 purchase price if you want to trip back and learn to say, "Hey, hey, hellooooo" in proper fashion.

Light, Bright Fun
They used to make movies like these in the old days: self-absorbed socialite is forced to take an unlikely job to maintain her dizzy lifestyle and learns valuable lessons about Life. The movie was more about the journey than the destination and depended on the charm of the leading actor and a strong supporting cast to pull it off. So it is with this little indie gem. Of course since it was made in the 90s, not the 30s, it takes liberties with sex, drugs and language but it's the same story. Like those oldies this one is carried by a delightful Parker Posey who radiates a funny, poignant charm in every scene. Her supporting actors are all strong and the featherweight story zips along at a snappy pace. It's all in fun and a fine entertainment that holds up well all these years later -- like the very old ones that came before.

Bootleg DVD?
Interesting movie with great 90's DJ house music! Although whomever I bought this from, it seemed like a bootleg DVD copy since there was no start menu and the DVD case image felt like it was not professionally printed. The image quality was also pretty grainy but I was still able to watch and enjoy the film.
