Not sure if it only works on specially green algae, but the algae I have is brown and it didn’t do anything.

I think it slows down the algae but isn't a miracle cure worth knowing as you still need to keep on top of it but not a bad price and I continue to use it.

The product is Activated Alumina or Aluminium Dioxide, Aluminium causes acute aluminium toxicity in fish. If your PH is below Neutral do not use this product, it is not suitable for Caradina or Neo Caradina shrimp, please read below and other reveiws that have been left. It is safer not to use this product than take a risk with your aquarium. Its very poor on API and Mars fishcare to market this product despite the reported deaths in reviews and shame on Amazon for not sorting it out.Within 12 hours of adding this to my tank all my shrimp (Blue Bolts) were dead. I contacted API who tried to bluff me with Science claiming my water parameters at fault, which was certainly not the case. API did not seem Knowledgable or helpful. I asked for their product liability insurance and they refused to provide details. From my experience I can only advise people not to use this product. It is noted from reviews that others have suffered the same fate using this product.Please note: API Mars Fishcare, have now supplied details of their Product Liability Insurance, if your loss is within 6 years, consider making a claim its the only way to stop this.

It's alittle expensive but I found the API works really well and doesn't upset the water balance too much.

I've used this for the first time today, having used a similar product with our earlier fish tanks. We've recently started getting bad algae and, despite setting up the tank with fresh gravel, etc 2 weeks ago, the gravel already has algae, along with the glass.This mixes easily into the water and creates a cloudy effect as it's working.I'll update my review if I see significant progress over the next few weeks.
