The locks feature an adjustable jaw that has a “vise-like” grip, and they are capable of opening up to 1/2 inch wide. Use them to prevent unwanted intruders from breaking into windows. These locks are designed for use on horizontal vinyl sliding windows, although they may also work with some vertical sliding (single hung) windows. Installation is quick and easy with no tools required – a more secure window is just minutes away! When installing this lock, the cam style locking lever should be rotated hand-tight over the rail or vinyl edge to a sufficient torque prior to locking down the lever. This lock can be adjusted to fit on rail thicknesses ranging from 1/16 inch to 1/2 inch thick. This sliding window lock can be used as a secondary lock when window is shut and to secure the windows during ventilation. **Q: Can I use this product in sliding doors?**
A: U 10547 is the door version of this item

**Q: How does it work?  Are you going to post any pictures of it in use?**
A: They work great. Seems like it would be easier to break a window than to try to force a window that is locked with two of these. Simply twist them until they begin to tighten to window frame, then clamp them down. They tighten the rest of the way when you clamp them, a lot like vise grip pliers. I'm adding two photos to help.

**Q: does this come with 2 pcs in a pack? or this is only fr 1 unit?**
A: Luckily, I saved a packaged pack for back-up.  The USB on it says 0 49793 09809 2, and it is indeed a 2-pc packet (which states "Fits 1" wide rail").  The cam locking mechanism also makes re-placing the lock easy.

**Q: is this somthing that can keep my 6yr old from the window all the way or could  it be easly removed by him**
A: That seems like a loaded question. When I was 4, I figured out how to put a kitchen chair next to the counter. Climb on the counter and hoist myself to the top shelf of the cupboard to retrieve a bottle of Flintstones vitamins. I subsequently ate the whole bottle and had to have my stomach pumped. Kids are smart. Nothing is completely kidproof. Having said that, it depends on the type of window. Does it slide left to right or up and down? Mine slide up and down, and a child would have to be tall enough to reach high enough to unlatch them.
