As parents we want to protect our children; we want them to move forward in life; most importantly, we want them to take hold of and grow in Christ. And while the advice offered by parenting experts can be helpful, at some point we realize there are no simplistic formulas or sure-fire methods. We need wisdom from Godโs Word for this all-important task. In The One Year Praying through the Bible for Your Kids , trusted author Nancy Guthrie weaves together wisdom and insight from each dayโs reading in The One Year Bible , providing a parenting prayer devotional full of encouragement through the triumphs and turbulence of parenting. Each of the 365 daily readings contains: An anchor Scripture verse for the day A devotional reflection on that Scripture, offering truth and hope for parents to take hold of Fresh words to help you pray for your child Verses to follow along with the One Year Bible Reading Plan Day by day youโll find your dreams and desires for your children are becoming shaped more by Scripture than by the culture around you. Worry less, pray more, and help yourself to a daily dose of hope, perspective, and grace as you parent. Review: Best devotional & parenting book - I have never completed a devotional before this one. Iโm doing it again for the second year. This is hands down the best devotional and parenting related book Iโve read (also, rarely finish a parenting book). It is Biblical truths told simply that bring both conviction and grace to parenthood with gospel-centered prayers for our children. I look forward to reading more from Nancy Guthrie. Review: If you only by 1 โparentingโ book, buy this! - Iโm so happy I found this book! Itโs gotten me to read, study and pray through the Bible with my little one on my heart. Each day is a passage of scripture, devotional and then a prayer. Itโs short and sweet (perfect for a busy mom like me) but is full of wisdom and accomplishes a lot. 1) It gets me into scripture each day. 2) The devotions help me reflect on the scripture reading in terms of my child and my role a parent. 3) The prayers are scripture based and are a great model of how to take the promises of God found throughout the Bible and turn them into prayers for your children. I love that this book gets me reading my Bible and talking to God about my child. There are SO many Christian parenting books out there that try to tell you all of the things that you need to do to be the โperfectโ parent. I know the authors of those books are well meaning, but reading those kind of books often leaves me feeling inadequate and a failure. This book doesnโt do that at all. It doesnโt tell you what you should or shouldnโt be doing. It just points you to the Bible and to God. Being a parent is hard. There are no perfect parents and there are no perfect children. The devotion that I read today (May 31) pointed out that Jesus actually was a perfect child and even still being His mother was far from easy. Given that being a parent can be so challenging I canโt think of a better thing that we can do than to go to God with our children. This book encourages just that! I canโt recommend it enough!

Best devotional book for moms
Hands down my favorite daily devotional book. Purchased in December of 2024 to begin reading in January 2025. Yes, the book is about praying through the Bible for your children. Very relatable to where I am at in my stage of life with a 12 and 15 year old. However, I often found God pulling on my own heart strings, causing me to reflect on myself. So sad that this year is coming to an end, because that means the end of this devotional book. But I loved it so much it is my devotional for 2026!! I think there needs to be a book #2. Thank you!

Great
A great resource. I kind of ran out of steam because I'm doing a reading through the bible plan also but will definitely pick this up again in the future.

The best way to start or end my day.
These scripturally based prayers really get to the heart of the desires and fears you have as a parent and ask you to truly lay it all at the feet of Jesus. There's nothing more powerful than praying the Word of God over your children.
