Two LPs from Jack Jones recorded in the early 1960s, appearing here for the first time on CD. Included is the Grammy Award winning single "Lollipops and Roses", Jones' first chart entry. Jack Jones has had a career spanning over 50 years and is still performing today. This CD contains two LPs he recorded in the early 1960s - "Shall We Dance" and "This Was My Love", each showing a different side to him. The 12 tracks from the former LP benefit from Billy May's swinging arrangements and conducting, whereas the latter LP has Pete King's sensitive arranging skills with tender ballads. Their appearance here for the first time on CD, plus the inclusion of the Grammy Award winning single "Lollipops and Roses" makes this a winning CD

where is the rest of the Kapp catalogue?
Sepia did a beautiful job - now if they would only release the balance of the Kapp titles that have never been on cd (Call Me Irresponsible; Bewitched; Christmas Album; For The In Crowd; Sings; Lady; Our Song; What The World Needs Now Is Love; In Hollywood). Everything he did for other labels before (Capitol) and after (too many to mention) remains either irrelevant or is more or less around in one form or another. The Kapp recordings remain not only his very best, but by any measure some of the very best examples of American popular singing of the 1960's. As music was changing around him, he held his own on these fine recordings. They deserve to be out there.

A very mellow collection from Jack Jones
This is a very satisfying collection of some of Jack Jones' best recordings. Many of the old standards are presented here, and Jack's renditions are excellent. The transfer from vinyl (obvious) was well done, although not perfect. "Perfection" in this technology is rarely achieved, but still this is very, very good, and some truly enjoyable listening.

Must have
After hearing Jack sing in many movies and soundtracks, I happened to stumble across this release. What a singer! All the artists of his time - Frank Sinatra, Burt Bacharach, Billy Mays, Beach boys, and more - looked up to Jack's singing. You will too. I've loaned this CD to many friends who ignore this era of music, and they had instant Jack Jones favourites. Must have album!Remastering was well done. Thumbs up to Robin Cherry.

Incredible sound for an incredible voice
Great to finally have these on CD - I own the Lp's but love having access via CD. And the production quality is excellent. Sepia Records has done an incredible job of remastering the LP's. Jack's voice - truly one of the great voices of his era and still a joy to listen to - sounds amazing - totally a good buy if you're a Jack Jones fan.

Enjoyed classic album
Enjoyed the lush orchestral arrangements of these beautiful standards. Hope to see more of these albums, originally distributed under Kapp label released. These represent the best work of Jack Jones.

2 early and classic Jack Jones albums on Sepia...
Jack Jones has had a career spanning over 50 years and is still performing today. I saw him at the Town Hall in Birmingham at the end of 2011 and he was still on top form and very relaxed. This release contains two LPs he recorded in the early 1960s - "Shall We Dance" and "This Was My Love", each showing a different side to him. The 12 tracks from the first have Billy May's swinging arrangements and conducting. The opening song is a real swinger and the stereo separation is first class. Recorded over several days in November 1960 the whole album moved with pace. The second album has Pete King's sensitive arranging skills used across a range of tender ballads. On re-release this album had a title change to "Lollipops and Roses" because the song became a big hit when issued as a single.1. Shall We Dance/ 2. The Spin I'm in/ 3. Change Partners/ 4. At Long Last Love/ 5. A String of Pearls/ 6. Takes Two To Tango/ 7. Dancing On the Ceiling/ 8. Carioca/ 9. Ballerina/ 10. Invitation/ 11. Dixieland Band/ 12. The Last Dance/ 13. This Was My Love/ 14. There Will Never Be Another You/ 15. Lollipops and Roses/ 16. Moonlight Becomes You/ 17. They Didn't Believe Me/ 18. Love Letters/ 19. You Stepped Out Of A Dream/ 20. My Romance/ 21. The Girl Next Door/ 22. Julie/ 23. Corduroy Road/ 24. Tall HopeShall We Dance? (Released in 1961) & This Was My Love (Released in 1961) were both on the Kapp label. After spending some time in the US Air Force Jack Jones went back to civilian life and had more luck with his next company, Kapp Records. In August 1961 he recorded the ballad "Lollipops and Roses" (a song by Tony Velona), which became a hit in the following year. Jones's biggest pop hit was "Wives and Lovers" by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. During the Kapp years, Jones recorded almost twenty albums, including Shall We Dance, This Was My Love, She Loves Me, Call Me Irresponsible, I've Got a Lot of Living To Do!, Bewitched, Wives and Lovers, Dear Heart, Where Love Has Gone, The Jack Jones Christmas Album, My Kind of Town, The Impossible Dream, The In Crowd, Jack Jones Sings, Lady, Our Song, etc. Young, handsome, and well-groomed, Jack Jones stood out as something quite different in an era of rock going for the more traditional big band sound, lush romantic ballads and the compositions from the Great American Songbook, although sometimes he recorded something more pop, country or bossa nova oriented. One of his biggest hits, for example, was "The Race Is On", by country music legend George Jones. Besides the frequent good choice of material, he worked with many top arrangers including Billy May, Nelson Riddle, Marty Paich, Shorty Rogers, Jack Elliott, Ralph Carmichael, Bob Florence, Don Costa and Pete King. This new Sepia CD opens the door onto 2 classic albums. The liner notes by Tony Middleton are very informative and the attractive packaging includes black & white photographs of JJ plus a colour one on the sleeve. The running time is approx 73 minutes and the sound is excellent stereo.

輸入盤に、帯とライナーの対訳がついているだけでこの価格とは・・・。いい商売してますな。これならSepiaから出ている原盤<<"Shall We Dance/This Was My Love" >>の購入が正解。
