Will it melt to the dash in the summer?

Mine did not melt to the dash last summer.

doe it leave a mark on the dashboard?

I've used one for quite a while now and there are no marks on my dash. Item works great.

What type of material is this made of? If I wanted to glue part of the pad to a hard surface then what type of glue should I use?

The pad is sticky on both sides. All you have to do is place it on the surface you want and it sticks. No glue is necessary. If it should begin to get less sticky, just wash it with soapy water, let it air dry, and it is as good as new.

Does it Work on leather dashboards?

I would imagine it would, very "sticky", but non residual. Couldn't use it on my dash, as I have an older vehicle and the dash isn't deigned for such an item, so I had to improvise, have had my phone, glasses and sunglasses laying on it, went 4 wheeling, and nothing moved, so that being said, I think it would be a smart purchase. I even go one for my motorcycle that I can set my Bluetooth speaker on, and go riding, the speaker weighs just over a pound and doesn't move.
