If you have ever thought about trimming a few ounces off your Crocs these are the gaiters for you. They’re designed to be lighter and more packable, with the same fit and performance of the originals.

Outdoor Research a Step Above the Rest
I purchased a pair of these for a backpacking class I was taking last winter and they worked wonderfully in the snow. They kept my legs dry and added a little extra warmth. Initially I got the wrong size. I ordered the XL since according to their website it would fit between 10-13 size I am a size 12 I thought that would work, well what they don't tell you is that you need to have calves the size of the Hulk to keep them up. I found the XL to be to big around the leg area (would have been fine had their been more Velcro). Once I receive the correct size L the fit was perfect. I believe the sizing is to accommodate a bigger boot, since I was using a light hiking boot and not a true mountaineering boot.If the successful use of their product wasn't enough the customer service I received from Outdoor Research was definitely a step about the rest. One of the gaiters developed a small hole along the seem (no big deal, probably could have sown it up myself) however after contacting them (since they have such a great guarantee) they went out of their way to make a satisfied customer. This is becoming a rarity in businesses and I will continue to use their products and recommend them to my friends since I know they stand behind their products 100%.

Did exactly what they are meant too
I work at Fedex in Michigan. I bought a pair of these three years or so ago and have been really using them more then ever this year. I Just ordered this particular pair for another courier (Then went one to order two more pair for two other couriers). They are perfect for what we do. I have been in snow multiple times up to the top of the gaiters and never once did any get through to my pants underneath. I was worried about the velcro on the front of them at first, but in the three years I have used mine ( and lately it has been daily use for the last 2 months) they have held up perfectly. This has included plowing through sidewalks that were not shoveled ( 10 inches of snow) to packed hard snow that I had to climb over to get to a path way.If I had any complaint at all, it would be that the top closure will never get tight enough. Even at it's tightest if I were to get into snow over my knee it would get down the top of the gaiter. But, if the snow is over my knee..I should probably be wearing snow pants not gaiters..so for me it really isn't an issue. These really are great and I recommend them to anyone.

The Snowshoe Gaiter of Choice
A trekking snowshoe gaiter needs to be easy to put on one's footgear; the OR Verglas fits that bill to a "T," or should I say a "V?"Further, the velcro closure locking the front of the gaiter cinches quickly and tightly, keeping snow out of one's foot.Since they reach up the calf, the upper closing needs to not only block snow sneaking in from the top but also hold the tops up in place. The "V" handles that easily. The under-foot strap holds up over time and needs adjusting only once, one that suits a personal fit.Another part of the OR gaiter is that . . . it helps one's look. Yes, yes, I am very aware of the need for performance and use, but what is so cool about the Verglas is that it really is attractive . . . and sharp. The photo doesn't do credit because there is no snow, it's favorite home. Why am I buying a second pair? Certainly that reason is not that the first wore out or had some problem. Rather at a race I left them somewhere and that was that. There was no question I would only buy this gaiter for my snowshoeing . . . and I do a lot of snowshoeing.

Skip these if you are a size 13 or larger
I purchased these for a snow trip; I was about ready to get on a snowmobile and pulled these out to fit over my size 13 Sorel boots. No go. Just way to small. If they have a XXL that's what I'd recommend for this size range. They appeared very well made. I returned for a refund and that went fine. The seller was reputable for the return.

Way to small even for a small person. If you order this item you need to watch your size requirement..

Fantastic Gaiters with 1 Major Flaw
Yes, these gaiters are fantastic. They keep water, dust, mud etc, out...and your legs and boots completely dry beneath. I took these on my trek up Kilimanjaro and they preformed as well as some of my other, more expensive gaiters. All of this can be expected from a great outdoor company, like OR, but this brand has one major flaw that I can't seem to understand. They don't have a clasp near the toe of your boot to keep the two sides of the gaiter together. Instead, they rely on velcro alone to keep them completely closed, (resulting in a gap in the gaiter near the bottom laces of your boot as you hike)Other OR brands have this clasp, but for some reason it didn't make it to this model. For this reason, I gave this product 4 stars. Gaiters are only as good as their seal around your boot.

XL Good fit for Scarpa Kinesis Pro GTX (US 14 / Euro 48)
Husband writing:I have not used gaiters before and have only just used this on a 3hr hike with sections of knee deep snow and few inches of water/snow.I have fairly muscular legs and calves and these fit very well over them and my Scarpa Kinesis Pro GTX boots (US mens 14 or Euro 48). With the hook over the laces, it was nicely taught over the boot, with little room for anything getting past them. Despite my having large legs, I would expect these to fit well on anybody with the same shoe size with the strap at the top being very adjustable.I can't comment on the waterproofness that another reviewer had commented on, but these kept me dry for the short hike I did in areas where I would have been wet.
