Review: Door broken after only 2 months - This is probably the best air fryer I've used, and I have 4 of them. It heats up my food the best out of all of them. Maybe it's the more compact size causing it to be more efficient inside? I don't know, but whatever it is, it crisps up my food in the totally right way. The size is great too, very nice and compact, and looks attractive. Here's why the low scores (NOTE: Originally this was a 1 star review): 1. The basket. The metal weave is brutal on your fingers, I've cut myself more than once on the very wiry basket. 2. The door. IT'S BROKEN. When the door closes, it pushes in a little pin, which causes the oven to turn on. Well, randomly, as its cooking, the door opens just a touch, causing the pin to pop out a bit, turning the oven off. I have to shove a trivet at the door to keep it closed (see photo). This is NOT GOOD. And no, nothing "happened" to it, I didn't bump it, drop it, slam it, or anything else to make this happen. Very frustrating. I've only been using this oven for 2 months, and the door has now not worked for 2 weeks. So, of course, I've already thrown out the box, I'm out of the return window.... really not happy with it ESPECIALLY because it cooks really well. UPDATE: Upon reading some other reviews, I called the Cuisinart helpline and, yeah, they have sent me a replacement oven. They REALLY stand by their products, I love that! They very reasonably asked me to make my current oven non-operant and to send them evidence of that, and once I did so, they immediately processed a new shipment. So now I'll have to go try my new one. Thanks, Cuisinart! I changed this review to 5 stars for now. I will retry the new oven and see how it goes. They must be washed with strong dish soap after use or they'll smell like rancid cooking oil. Amazon sells Casaware 11 by 9 by 2 baking pans and Walooza 11 by 9 by 1 baking sheets, both made with heavy steel coated with ceramics, far better than the original equipment, and make this air fryer usable as a convection oven. KRUPS made baking stones in the perfect size and shape for making flatbread pizzas in it a few years back too! So at its current $100 price, this can be a versatile oven. **Q: What is capacity of this model in quarts? (I know it can hold 2.5 pounds of meat) Need to compare to other brands which provide only quart capacity.** A: 1.1983 quarts. Google is your friend. Smile. Just enter, 2.5 pounds = quarts and you will get a conversion. **Q: Does the drip tray need to be washed each use?** A: i use a wallmart multicolor decorated paper plate when i cook burggers & chicken strips in another brand air fryer it helps tremendously w/clean up put remember dont go up to 451 or the plate will catch fire ---- i usually cook at 320 or less --- mine is a faberage [spelling] drawer type w/basket the plate is a tad 2 big so it need folded up around the edge --- this helps with catching the burger grease --- just say n [but i may be an idiot do not try this at home lol i only been doing it a year or so] **Q: I am new to air frying and have burned food by following the directions. Any suggestions to cook and not burn?** A: Air frying: use the recommended temperature in your recipe, preheat for 5 minutes, stir or turn as directed. Baking: reduce the temperature by 25 degrees, preheat for 5 minutes, and reduce the amount of cooking time. Definitely check food when you can smell it! At first we burnt a few things, but using these adjustments, we get good results every time.
